I was wondering if S might get an earlier 2nd, but he was moderna so I won't hope. It would be good because his 2nd is the day before we go away and it would be great if he was fully done/not having side effects for when we go.

I wonder why Moderna people have to wait longer? Is it a supply issue?

Here it's the AZ people who are being told to wait 12 weeks for their second shot which is a month later than the others, even if they plan to get an mRNA for their second.

ETA: It changes so quickly, they'll probably make up new rules by the end of the day anyway.

They don’t have to wait longer as such, it’s just they don’t get to shorten the gap. There’s a surplus of AZ now because they’ve decided not to give it to young people, and that’s not true of Pfizer or Moderna (at the moment).

I see what you mean. Well I was right about our rules changing, they've already said AZ people can get their shot 8-12 weeks after the first now. It's hard to keep up, really. But it also means I can book my 2nd shot next week and I am going to go the covid cocktail route and give Pfizer a bash.

My parents are having a booster next week as part of a trial in Oxford.

My trial have invited those of us who didn't get the highest dosage (the one they've chosen to proceed with) for a 6 month extension to the trial to receive a booster shot. In for a penny...

This time next week both MrE and I will be jabbed for the first one We have to book our second one at the clinic we get it done at, for 3 weeks later (Pfizer).

Really! I really wish they'd commit to, at least, doing teenagers. I get the arguments against doing it, but right now every time there's a case in a class 29 other kids get sent home. and now it's going to be circulating more, they're all going to be sent home more. I haven't heard of any local cases in schools for months and months and now its springing up everywhere. 31 cases/ 4 yrs groups out in the secondary a stones throw from us.

I know it would be a while before they'd be done, but to know there might be increased stability for schools into the autumn/winter would be good. Otherwise it's just going to rip through schools, if everything is open again.

Woohooo! One of my friends just texted to say she’d rearranged her 2nd appointment and that there were loads of dates available so I just cancelled my second appointment which was for 25th July and rebooked for 3rd July. Did it on the NHS website, there were indeed loads of dates and venues available in my area. Might be worth a try? (I’m 43 if that helps).
