WTF, Disco? I'm sorry I didn't get to see that.

I haven't heard back from the chap yet and he was looking at quotes yesterday. Was wondering if I could get a mate to nick his car and burn it or something so I stop thinking about it.

My car still works fine thank heavens. I've long gone past caring about how it looks!
You don't need to hear back from the chap. You've done your bit and it's out of your hands now. His insurance will talk to your insurance and you don't need to be involved in any way whatsoever.

Unless the UK systems differs greatly from the French system, I guess - I'm basing this on my experience of having an accident that was totally my fault: I was distracted, didn't see a stop sign coming out of a car park, and a woman who had the right of way drove into the side of me. I apologised profusely, we gave each other our insurance details, and that was the last I ever heard from her again.

Is the chap still contacting you or is it you contacting him? If it's you, then stop it! :teacher:

I thought TC wrote this so I didn't blink twice, but I've just sussed it was you thank to Zooms. HOW?!

No I haven't been in contact with him. He said he'd look at quotes "tomorrow" and let me know but that was on Sunday. So I'll just leave it indeed.

Oh God I put down on my insurance that I was employed as an office manager when I took out the policy and I wasn't , the other party has put a claim in after all and now I'm fuckef

Please can anyone help I don't know what to do. I can't believe I did that, it was going through a comparison website so I just carried the same info over without thinking

I have payslips from my part time job which they've told me to send over but I'm so scared I'm going to be hit for this bill

Lily, just wait and see what the insurance company say. I take it that you've told them you're not currently working?

I have no idea but you know what insurance companies are like, any excuse to invalidate a claim

Yeah, don't get ahead of yourself Lily.

First off, wait and see what they say.

Secondly, did you take out your current insurance when you were still in your garden leave period? if so, then you didn't really lie, I can't recall any insurance quotes I've ever done asking me if I was under notice or probation when putting down occupation.

The occupation bit is only to build a risk profile - if you are in a clerical profession or doing a job which is at a static place of work then your driving pattern is a bit different to someone who is using their car to work as a delivery driver etc. I'd have thought that they would rate you a lower risk if you're not having to drive in commuter traffic, if anything!

You've mentioned this before, and I know it's a bit of a common view but don't just assume they're looking for reasons to cancel it.

As Hippy says, much of that is about a profile, and risk levels.

Unfortunately I didnt, the notice period ended May 15th and I took out policy end of June. I can't believe I've been so stupid. I hope that the theatre job I do, which is no different, covers me, but as luck would have it I now can't find the bloody May payslip. Honestly I could not fuck my life up more if I tried

Hmm I hope I will be OK as I have still been employed through the whole of the insurance period and still as an 'office manager'. Only it's a (box) office manager. The mistake I made was telling them I was unemployed as I feel that I am, but a part-time job still counts I suppose. Fingers crossed.

I don't think they can invalidate your claim on that basis. I've often had to take a "best guess" at my job role in these situations.

Did they contact you about the claim? How did your employment position come up?

Good insurance companies do not want to not pay out, it isn't in their interests to behave this way - they would never receive any new business if this were the case. So if the claim is valid then it will be paid, it is a lazy old trope that they don't pay out.

Just leave them alone and allow them to do their thing.

Lily, I don't know how strongly to put this, but an insurance company is not coming to get your payslips from you to audit them for accuracy/go over them with a fine-tooth comb. It will be an automated box ticking exercise to proove something that they don't even care about. This would be more in man hours than the claim is worth. This is such small-fry to an insurance company that I imagine it is automated from beginning to end.

Sorry to be pathetic. I just, am pathetic at the moment. They asked to send the payslips over and I have been in employment throughout the time of my insurance, so maybe it will be OK.

Thank you all for your patience. I don't seem able to cope with many things at the moment. :ella:

Well, that's a lot of my life too. :))

After all that! I have just checked what I put in my actual insurance comparison website thingy and I DID change it to say "theatre" and selected the most appropriate title, and selected that I didn't have any other employment. So I'm not as shit as I thought! Honestly.

Stop berating yourself, Lils.

I can't see why the insurance company wants your payslips. Is that normal?!

It was because I'd told them I was unemployed, and now I'm telling them I was employed.

When they rang and wanted to check, they asked if I was still employed and I said "oh blimey I'm not" so I thought I'd filled in the quotation request incorrectly - but I hadn't. Thank fcuk.

You're dealing with a lot of stress just now, Lily so cut yourself some slack. I totally get how you feel, the smallest things can set me off at the moment, where I'd previously have ignored them or rolled my eyes at them.
