Sounds lovely!
If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

Oh, I already posted about it, I was just coming back to post again. :granny:
We went to a Miller & Carter on Sunday. It was expensive, but I enjoyed it. I thought the lettuce wedge was quite good.

People keep saying good things about M&C to me, (there's one in town by me), but I'm always put off because I don't like to go to chain restaurants. :twat: I might try it though on a Sunday and take Tupac as apparently they do a good Sunday menu.

That’s what we had, and it really was good. People aren’t (always) wrong.

Reporting back on Saturday night. It was amazing. I live tweeted it like a megatwat but the food was delicious and I could easily have it eaten it all twice.

This is a battered aubergine burger, with tartare sauce, nori seaweed, cheese and lettuce.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
I’ve had some lovely food in the last week but yesterday I went to the most bizzare place! It’s a restaurant/ gallery/ gift shop that is attached to the historical centre and it’s like going back in time. It’s a tea room for Southern ladies that lunch and was a bit Driving Miss Daisy.
The menu is what you’d imagine passing as fancy food back in the 1940s and the combinations!
I had the chicken and shrimp timbales accompanied with cheese straws (tiny but delicious) and the house speciality which is a frozen fruit salad. On the same plate - served on lettuce!!
The women were all relatively old and held together with hairspray and foundation. They were also hosting a Mother and Daughter luncheon. So so weird.

So weird but so interesting!
It’s between the aubergine and the top half of the bread, smal.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
Gosh! Was the frozen fruit salad a dessert served at the same time like on an aeroplane, or was it part of the main course? And was it nice (in abstraction of the "served with cheese straws and shrimp" aspect)? It's really pretty.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
It was part of the main course and the chicken and shrimp timbale was advertised as a salad.
The weird frozen fruit thing was actually really nice. The creamy stuff tasted exactly like condensed milk and you could properly taste the fruit components (pineapple, grape and cherry).

More eating out.
This place is around 25 mins away from us and has a massive farmers market that we went to yesterday. It was incredible and I left weighed down with spices, ingredients and cheeses that I didn’t think I’d be able to find over here.
Every country seems to be represented at the market and then the restaurants themselves.

We ended up at a Columbian restaurant called Las Delicias de la Abuela - menu is entirely in Spanish (online and in the restaurant) and no one spoke much English but it was packed and the food was great. I plan to work my way round the rest of it.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
The last time I was in Orlando was 20 years ago and the restaurants in CityWalk are actually pretty decent so we’ve eaten really well.
We went to the cowfish for dinner last night which is so random.
We have one near us in Atlanta and have been there for sushi before but last night we went for the burgerushi.
We shared a bacon cheeseburger which is all the components of a bacon cheeseburger but wrapped in soy paper and flash fried, topped with pickle, tomato and cowfish sauce.
And the taste explosion roll; Seasoned all natural angus ground beef, applewood bacon, jalapeños, spicy mayo inside, coated with tempura flakes. Topped with roma tomato and pepper jack cheese, then baked. Drizzled with cashew cilantro pesto
It was so lovely (despite my terrible photos!) and didn’t feel horribly heavy like a burger would usually do.

I am not sure what to make of that, Olive, but your last sentence means I would definitely give it a try. All the benefits of a cheeseburger without the bloat? Winner.
P, TD and I went to one of the Thali Cafés on Sunday for my birthday treat and I was so disappointed. They are a Bristol institution and used to feel a bit quirky with excellent food, but I've been left feeling really meh the last couple of times we've been and, as we left, P described it as "middle class white hipster curry" which now seems to sum it up. I basically went for the amazing chocolate kulfi and they had sold out .

Oh that's a shame Lora. I don't think I've ever been to a Thali but always mean to. What was so disappointing?

That’s a shame. I haven’t been to that place but I like a thali.
