While I cooked a gammon the other day and can't manage to get any into my mouth there's so much other stuff to eat! I'm going to slice it all up and freeze it.

We had M&S mini pies for breakfast/ lunch today followed by sausage rolls. :mog: :oink: :winch:

:dotty: I watched John Torode and Lisa Faulkner make an orzo dish out of pigs in blankets earlier and thought "I would".

I've just googled this and it looks lush. What red beans do you use? Kidney?

It's a Greek dish, usually made with courgette, aubergine, potato, layered with tomato and slow baked with feta on top. All Cretan restaurants have a version of this that is a secret recipe made by their Grandmother. :)) I can't remember if I saw a recipe for a root veg version or if I made it up, but the bloody root veg has got to get eaten somehow.

We got swedes in a TGTG bag but they were tiny and ropey. They’re in the freezer, cooked and mashed with carrot for our next Sunday lunch.

Next week is

Nut roast/sausages/brisket, Yorkshire puddings, veg
Leftover roast
Spag bol
Leftover spag bol
Gammon/egg/beans and chips
Pizza pasta
Feeezer curry and roti
Lemony linguine

I think I'll do this with mine rather than have it in my planned casserole. I love buttery, peppery mashed swede and carrot.

It was a staple of childhood dinners, and is how I eat most swedes we get. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it more fresh!

Yes, it's the only way I eat swede but thought I'd incorporate it into casserole but it's better on the side I think. Plus I don't want it to interfere with my dumplings :ready:
