I want to eat everything on that menu, Glint! What did you have?

I know! I was bedazzled by choice but in the end had black pudding starter, beef brisket then white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake :fat:

If I was choosing right now, I’d have the same starter as you followed by the beef olives

It’s not often you get a menu you would eat almost everything on.

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
I would have had the same starter - it looks immense. Not sure I'd have been able to eat a mains AND a mini dessert as well but I'd have had a good go at it :))
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.

That is one on the list for when we go back to Glasgow!

I’d go back in a heartbeat, but definitely pace myself with what I eat. The new midweek set menu is a bargain compared to the Fri/Sat/Sun menu.

I got taken to The Ivy (Brighton) on Friday and the courgette fries were indeed ordered immediately. They were very good, as was everything else which I was slightly surprised at as I thought it would be a bit chain-y. The decor itself is worth the price of admission - like Frieda Kahlo and Carmen Miranda's dressmaker threw up all over the place, but in a good way.

I am going to go to The Ivy next week. I've heard good things about it.
I had lunch at Murmur a couple of weeks ago and it was okay. I was expecting something bit more spectacular however we did only have the set menu option.

You know it was the Head honcho at 64 Degrees who opened Murmur, because he didn't think there was anywhere on the beach where he'd be happy to take his own children? :woteva: Having had a look at the prices being charged (and for not an exactly welcoming and comfortable space), I've decided his children must be very high maintenance :))

I really enjoyed the Ivy in Bristol Smal, you're in for a treat. I am so impressed at how well they've gone from 1 high end restaurant to a chain of high end restaurants.

Yes, because it's Michael Bremner's place, I was keen to try it out. But I found the menu quite uninspiring and the meal itself quite bland.Derek Nimmo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 2:17 pm You know it was the Head honcho at 64 Degrees who opened Murmur, because he didn't think there was anywhere on the beach where he'd be happy to take his own children? :woteva: Having had a look at the prices being charged (and for not an exactly welcoming and comfortable space), I've decided his children must be very high maintenance :))

Re: Where have you eaten out lately?
S and I went to Pintxo last night https://pintxobristol.co.uk/ a new(ish) tapas place (as an aside, have we reached PeakTapas now? there are 4 just in about 50metres of here). The food was really lovely, the decor was great but the service was piss poor. No one offered us a drink for at least 15minutes. The waiter was quite abrupt. When the food arrived there was no cutlery, when we managed to catch the eye of someone (you know when you feel like they're trying not to be), he said yes but walked away and didn't bring any, so we had to stop someone else and ask her (and she did bring it). One of the tapas dishes never arrived (its one of those places where it comes when its ready, which is fine, but it takes longer to realise they've definitely forgotten), so we asked the abrupt waiter and he again seemed to acknowledge (with no apology or anything) but walked off and it still didn't arrive. So we asked the woman again who went off (no apology again) and about 5 minutes later it arrived. It was a selection of charcuterie and we'd finished everything else by then (I'd rather have sacked it off by that point, but S wanted it). About another 10minutes later, the accompanying bread to the charcuterie turned up (after we'd finished most of it). We'd asked for the drinks menu to be brought back mid way through the meal, intending to order more drinks, but it never turned up so we decided to forget it and go elsewhere for another drink. There were 3 waiters and only about 15 customers so they weren't exactly over run?!

That's utterly rubbish service! You should email them and tell them.
I think we have peak Tapas. I'm bored with it.

My new favourite restaurant is Naughty Piglets - I've only been to the Brixton Water Lane one, but it was brilliant - fab, buzzy atmosphere (we booked pretty last minute so ended up sitting at the bar, but it was absolutely fine) and the food is really, really good.
So good we're going back in a couple of weeks.
