Re: Hey! Good lookin’!
I’ve just had sausages in cheesy HCBs for my lunch. With brown sauce, obviously.

So, the cheesey HCBs are also sweet and have fruit in….?
I finally scratched my steak itch, though not at all in an imaginative way. It was from the amazing butchers up the road (opened by a Brit!) that works directly with local, small-scale farmers. Very good.

Goodness, no! This one was red onion, cheese & chive, I think. Not fruit & trad spice.Epponnee Rae wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 6:43 am So, the cheesey HCBs are also sweet and have fruit in….?

Well that’s a relief. I was talking myself round to the meat+fruit, and spices already being in HP etc. So like a soft cheesey bap then?

I was also afraid of a cheesy HCB until it was pointed out to me that they weren't actually also sweet/fruity. :))
A couple of random things as I clear out my camera. Beef and blue cheese pie from yesterday, and some sole with garlicky potato dumplings, samphire, and a lemon sauce.

That fish especially looks gorgeous goat (as does the pie)
My friend every year tries to convert me to cheesy HCB and bacon pip, she swears by them maybe this year I’ll actually give it a go!

The fish & pie look lovely.
I’m unsure about the HCB & sausage combo but I’d have to try it just to be sure :))

The pie crust looks perfect! I love the sound of the potato dumplings too.
I took a few liberties with an Anna Jones aloo gobi recipe and added chickpeas and spinach. I served it with almonds, yoghurt, cucumber pickle which I freestyled and all the Geeta’s chutneys.

This is all too much as I am not allowed to eat anything but cold soup this week. That aloo gobi can go right in my mouth.
The potato dumplings are a Nathan Outlaw favourite, they're basically bastardised gnocchi that would make Italians keel over while crying out for their nonna. Potato, egg, flour as gnocchi and technique as gnocchi but with added eg herbs, garlic, lemon zest, Parmesan, and a little more plump/less delicate. I'm amazed the pie crust came out ok because I used a random bag of new age flour (spelt, einkorn and emmer?) and had no batteries in my scales.

I made the red pepper & ricotta gnocchi from the Green Roasting Tin yesterday.
Tonight we had freezer chilli & cornbread muffins with salad. The cornbread recipe called for fried onions in the mix, and I also added sweetcorn & chopped jalapeños.

I made a honey focaccia from Jamie O’s new book. It was lovely with pumpkin soup for lunch.

The focaccia and cornbread look delicious!
Some recent stuff....we got overloaded with salmon from our fish delivery so I cured a bunch..overall it was a bite too salty but it worked. Then Mr J had some fleischkase in the freezer and decided to make schwabisch maultaschen to have with it which were a bit mutant (and a serious labor of love) but tasted great.
It's artichoke time for our veg box so I've been eating them (as no one else likes them) with hollandaise. And veg box are overloading us with sweet potatoes (which again, no one else eats) so I made sweet potato and black bean empanadas which Mr J actually ate despite hating sweet potatoes.

I’m super impressed by homecured salmon.
I also made Oreo Brookies (choc chip cookie base, oreo stuffing and topped with brownies and more oreos)
