There’s an article in the guardian food section (I think) about what to do if you don’t have any yeast. I can’t find it now- can anybody remember where it was?

I found fresh yeast on a random scandi website when I was looking for mini cinnamon buns for Liv. HOLD ON!

Lunch today: carrot fritters (using up a carrot which was getting a bit bendy), mixed leaves, a wrap, cheddar and a smashed up poppadom. The fritters were a bit sweet and could have taken more herbs/chilli but pretty tasty.

That made me lol, as I genuinely thought 'ooo, carrot fritters' then scrolled down. I have no mango chutney atm, so can live without poppadoms.

A random lunch of bits of leftovers (swede dauphinoise, smoked salmon tart with potato pseudo-pastry and some odds and ends of veg turned into pickles). With a large bowl of scotch broth (made with untraditional pig instead of lamb).

Poppadom! I think we have a couple of microwave ones left. Crumbling them is a good idea to make them go further.
Today’s massive salad lunch: bulghar wheat and swiss chard with tahini and toasted pine nuts. It was meant to be farro but my supplies are almost critical and there was a whole bag of bulghar. The swiss chard was raw so it felt super healthy. George had seconds but Liv refused to try it and had a fennel salami sandwich

I often do a microwave poppadom instead of crisps as they're really low calorie but a nice bit of crunch.
That salad looks excellent. I need to do some nice grains one day, we've got loads and they're always a great lunch.

BM has stopped eating peas and I've somehow ended up with three fecking bags of them in the freezer, so behold! Basmati rice paella with a bit of leftover chorizo and some random freezer prawns.

My husband’s optimism with regard to how much cabbage our children will eat is commendable.
That’s the platter of veg for self-service; there was also sausages and gravy.

I admire his optimism wendy! S will only eat “Sunday” cabbage, cooked in butter and bacon bits. Even then she has a slither of cabbage then eats everyone else’s bacon portion!
