I made a big batch of fridge bottom veg curry and a vat of red pepper and tomato soup on Monday, so that's my meal plan sorted, pretty much.

I was going to ask what does (L) mean but now I reckon it means lunch?

This week I will be considering cardoons. So if anyone has any good recipes featuring them, I've seen fried, frittered and gratinated and all of that business bodes well with me.

The L is for lunch as I am incapable of making a small amount of food so there's loads of leftovers.

I'm off to Google cardoons.

I suffer the same affliction.

They're from the thistle family and are fibrous stems :flirt: as far as I can gather.

Are they a bit like artichokes? I've never had one.

Artichoke/ thistle family but more like celery visually. They are stems not flower-heads. As far as I'm aware.

I am interested to know what you think of them.

In unusual fruit/veg news I spotted that the place I buy my corn tortillas had fresh tomatillos and jicama so I've ordered them. I am planning to make a roasted salsa with the tomatillos and some maybe this salad with the jicama: https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/sum ... nd-avocado

I need to plan. I am thinking (it's quite ricey):

Spicy salmon with stir-fried courgettes and carrots with rice
Korean beef and veg with rice
Eating IN A RESTAURANT
Haggis, baked potato and spinach
Chilli con carne with rice and some sort of veg
Roasted chicken thighs and tenderstem broccoli with tagliatelle with wild garlic pesto
Fish fingers, chips and veg

Spinach, parmesan orzo with pork chops
Kedgeree
Chicken, purple sprouting broccoli with fried gnocchi
Leek & blue cheese risotto with pangritata
Giant pigs in blankets with mash, peas and onion gravy
Cardoon gratin with crusty bread and salad

How many of us actually keep to our meal plans? Mine has just been scuppered as I fancy chips and omelette instead of whatever was planned. :))

I do 90-95% of the time although I keep moving the kedgeree - I've just added to my post - as I need to use the fresh stuff and kedge is store cupboard.

Pretty much, as that’s what the food shop is based on. Things get moved around and if there’s leftovers to use up, something might get bumped.

Yes I’m the same as Wendy. I do bump things quite a lot but usually I’ve shopped based on whatever’s on the list.

Beef teriyaki
Pulled pork
Risotto
Bean chilli
Fish & chips
Veggie curry
