I’ve been wondering about those potatoes for a few days now.

They take twice as long as she says they do, Pipple. They're ok but I would also say you need to add more vinegar. Plus I would get smaller spuds or just chop up an old potato rather than do new one.

There was gravy after the photo, yes? The pie looks good.

Ruby in "Not a Real Northerner Shocker!"

You cannot have pie without gravy. :ttth: Or at least mushy peas or curry sauce.

I did not have gravy with my chicken, ham and leek pie. I don't like the gravy to interact with the creaminess.

I think I would consider a butter sauce for a cheese and onion pie.

I agree, no gravy with a cheese and onion or creamy chicken pie. (I’m disgusting and would have a dollop of salad cream.)

I just ensure that my mash is 50% butter.

It just is, in those cases  (in full disclosure, with a roast I’d have both gravy AND salad cream :snooty: )

ETA this was to kiwi.

I wouldn’t have gravy with cheese and onion but definitely would with chicken pie.

I’ve been craving a corned beef onion and potato pie for ages but mr is on a diet and S doesn’t eat pie. I dare say my hips thank me but still.

I would consider salad cream with a chip. If I was having a bought cheese and onion pie, mid week, with chips then I would allow it. But if it's one I have made myself, at the weekend, then all table sauces are forbidden.

 You should all try it. There’s very little that salad cream can’t enhance.

I prefer my salad cream to remain firmly inside my salad cream sandwiches.
