I’ve just ordered those filthy bread bombs for my mum for next weekend. They look absolutely immense, thanks Ella!

You meat is definitely stingy, Rebs. I hope that box wasn’t everything in the kit??

Sorry missed this. No that really would be criminal! There's a slightly smaller starter box plus dessert, bread rolls and the corn nibbles. It does all look delicious.

Hope your mum enjoys the bread bombs. Can't see why she wouldn't!

So, no question, the Lima food was gorgeous. Great mix of flavours and textures and (according to Mr R anyway) not too fiddly.

I do still think the meat portion was a bit mean. There was really no difference in size between the tuna tartare starter portion and beef main. Effectively we had one rib each, and what makes it so tender is the layer of fat. It was melt in the mouth though. So a recommendation but with a caveat.

We had the bread bombs for lunch today, and they were fucking delicious. The bread is really good too (Gail’s), and somehow nothing had gone soggy or minging inside. (They say you can keep them up to 5 days before serving.) Size-wise, I could have just about eaten a whole one, but 3/4 was plenty. Almost zero prep other than separating the eggs.

Ooh the Lima looks/sounds delicious and not THAT small. I'm glad it turned out in the end. And god the bread bombs. I am trying to work out how to manoeuvre these into my life as we don't really have communal lunches and Mr G won't understand having one in order to have a bread bomb, and will be awkwardly asking if he can go now. I might just get some for myself if they last 5 days.

Oh my Hoppers was good but I didn't find it amazing. The best part was the cocktail which was GORGEOUS.

The Lima does look good! I guess it's tricky as in a restaurant when you're having several courses and bread etc that size portion is fine but it probably feels different at home.

I'm really missing cocktails. I keep meaning to do a thread to see if any of the ones in cans are ok. I had an espresso Martini one that was both watery and vile.

We had a foodbox from Chapter One (Farnborough-based Michelin starred restaurant) for our anniversary dinner tonight, and it was lovely. Tons of food. We had:

Homemade focaccia, olives and nuts
Smoked salmon and pumpernickel amuse bouche
Lobster Thermidor
Tandoori spiced monkfish with roasted cauliflower
Apple tart tatin with Normandy cream

They also sent us a bottle of wine and loads of petit four, but we were too full to even think about them.

That sounds amazing! At the other end of the spectrum I've had cheaper ones the past two weeks, both delicious. Last Friday was Sambal Shiok's special laksa via Pezu (34 quid) - chicken, prawn and tofu. Really simple, just cook the noodles and reheat the broth/ toppings. I had to add half a can of coconut milk because man, that was hot.

Tonight was Sidechick's ( Patty &Bun's roast chicken spin off) peri peri chicken, 19 quid via HG Walter so no delivery fee as I was also making a meat order ( they also sell direct). You just get the chicken ( whole) and dips so I needed to make sides, but it was bloody delicious.

Next week is Nopi's masterstock chicken, so here ends the economical options.

It's really good! Have a look at Arrosto too, it's supposed to be the pinnacle of the roast chicken art form (I haven't tried it yet). It's a Quality Wines spin off.

I went a bit mad at Farmdrop this week so have a load of fish to get through this weekend but now I want chicken! I will definitely look at Arrosto though.

We had the Vegan Mezze from Arabica in the week and it was delicious!

Has anyone spotted gift vouchers options on their meal kit travels? I’ve seen restokit do them but haven’t seen any other so far. I’d like to give my parents the option of what to order and when but most sites don’t seem set up that way.

D&D London might. They do sell gift vouchers, but it would be worth checking whether they can be used for home delivery kits. We had a lovely one from them the other day. It was from Sartoria, which I wasn't familiar with before.
