I need to Google cafe de Paris sauce.

A very unattractive looking croque madam.

We had jacket spuds & freezer chilli for lunch. The potatoes took ages though, even in the combi oven. :lg:

We just had a Bosh lasagne, using a few portions of their batch Bolognese, and everybody had seconds (except the non lentil eater who had something else).

ETA - that’s Elvis’s plate, hence the separate salad bits. My salad was more interesting but the lasagne more sloppy.

The lasagne looks great, Wendy.

We had Ottolenghi black pepper tofu last night. A huge favourite here apart from with the person who has to chop the shallots :)

Meals are going to get weird this week if my PCR comes back positive.

Have you been checking the cupboards?

Elvis made pilaf.

I watched Nige make the fish finger bhorta recently. I can't get my head around it at all (fish fingers are not really my thing though).

Not my photo but I made this Anna Jones chickpea braise with kale and preserved lemon tonight and it was so good. Loved the yoghurt/harissa/tahini drizzles. I served it with Crosta & Mollica wholewheat flatbreads which I'd not bought before but everyone loved them. My family think I'm trolling them with chickpea/kale stews and G adores Alison Roman's The Stew (it's his favourite dinner) but said this is a very close second. It's much much nicer than the Meera Sodha harissa chickpea stew I made last week which I'll never bother with again :ttth:

Annoyingly I’d over bought on our last shopping order, so had scaled the most recent one back & used stuff from the freezer.

The bhorta really is so much more than the sum of its parts.

Thanks for the cafe de Paris sauce. It sounds delicious.

We had chicken and kale gnocchi. Enough for about four people :uhh:

Me too. I'm making pumpkin malai kari again. 3rd time in 3 weeks! We all love it. It can't be ready soon enough though :ready:

Me too! And I have nothing to contribute because I still haven't really cooked anything but I am having fish and chips later. It's from the place closest to us that has been closed over since 24 December which is apparently really good. Imagine how fresh the oil is!

Well, there are very few takeaway/delivery options here (hence the purchase of the pizza oven) but there are a lot of fish and chip shops. It's not my favourite takeawy but, in the interests of research, we have tried two since we've been here. Both pretty good but this one is closer so I am hopeful that we will be rewarded with crisp batter. I will take a picture!

I am so jealous of fish and chips! I hope yours live up to expectations, Toast. I have a rule that I only ever eat them at the seaside though. I will have to visit Whitstable soon

I've never had good fish and chips in Whistable. It's the oil I think. My Whitstable tradition is a crab sandwich from Wheelers on the beach :hbeat:

Fish and chips do taste much better on the harbour wall.

I’d also like to hear more about the pumpkin thingy-whatsit please.
