Is Dick called Dick?
Yes! I liked that - and Aunt Fanny is called Aunt Fanny.
The child actors are really good, plus the reporter from Ted Lasso plays Uncle Quentin, and he’s perfect too.

You didn’t dream the Magic Faraway Tree; Nicola Coughlan is going to be in it.

I loved it so much. The lands at the top, the slide in the middle, toffee shocks.

Is that what they were called? I thought toffee pops but the internet said shocks. I just recall really wanting them.

I love the Faraway Tree books
I have them on audible read by Kate Winslet. I also liked the Famous Five adaptation, particularly that they kept George as a tomboy rather than anything else

Err, Dame Washalot.. was it changed?!
She used to tip her wash water down the tree on people.

There was a Dame Spank A Lot or Madam Spankalot who was a headmistress at the school they were trapped in at the land at the top of the tree.
Dame Washalot lived in the tree, didn't she? Throwing water down.

I remember making a hand puppet out of felt at school with yellow wool for hair. I called her Silken because I didn't want everyone to say I was copying Silky.
It was so fun. Remember when there were bad goblins attacking the tree? I think that was in the second book maybe.
I also think it might just have been Dame Slap.

I think you are right Disco, I think it’s just Dame Slap, I think I’m misremembering it being Dame Spanks a lot!

End of Summer, a Sandinavian :vague: thriller on BBC 4, is absolutely brilliant. My jaw dropped during episode 5.

I’m enjoying Love & Death on ITV which is a true story about a woman who had an affair with her friends’s husband & then ended up killing the friend, although she was acquitted at the trial. It’s set in 1979 in Texas so I like the period drama aspect of it.

Having enjoyed the non-sleb version, I’m watching Celebrity Around the World and introducing it to my father in law. 10 minutes in and Kola is already my favourite!
