Podcasts & Blogs I like

This is a good thread. I've just started listening to Untold and I'm on episode 3 already, so thank you for that :))

I listen to lots of the ones already mentioned, but some others that I listen to regularly or intermittently are:
Imaginary Worlds, which is about storytelling with a slightly nerdy focus.
Reply All, which is about the internet - the episodes are quite short and fun. I've just discovered this and listened to ones about ex-Mormons, instagram for Doctors, a Hasidic Jew discovering the internet, 1Direction conspiracy theories all in one day so I've gone a bit tinfoil hat.
No Such Thing As a Fish, which is the QI Elves podcast.
Invisibilia, which is about human behaviour.
Unspoiled, which is a woman who has read/watched loads of pop culture stuff getting her friends who haven't to consume media and talk about it. It's a bit niche (like, I wouldn't bother unless you're already a fan of the thing in question) but I'm enjoying the Harry Potter one because the woman has literally never heard any of the plot points so she's constantly amazed, which is funny.

I like the sound of a lot of the podcasts on this roundup: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radi ... SApp_Other

Oh thanks. I'll definitely check some of these out in the new year, in my never ending bid to amuse myself while I work.

I am in need of some new listening in the new year so I will check some of these out. I like Call Your Girlfriend which is two best friends who live far away from each other - it's American, feminist and very funny. Although it's taken a bit of a glum turn since the US election but was really interesting commentary on that.

Also recently got into the Cracked podcast, they did a really interesting election post-mortem and have covered lots of different topics besides. Like someone else said upthread, it's just nice listening to people who know stuff about stuff.

Also love the Moth live storytelling one and This American Life. I've had My Dad Wrote a Porno recommended to me but haven't got past the first one yet. It's pretty funny but my cringe threshold is low so I may not persevere.

My Dad Wrote a Porno is funny but, yes, I find that I listen to two or three and then feel a bit repulsed/cringed out by it.

The Mortified podcast mentioned in the 50 round up is hilarious.

My other favourites at the moment: Last Podcast on the Left - Comedy podcast that deals with all sorts of horror. They've just done a four-part series on The Children of God cult.

They Walk Among Us - a UK true crime podcast which is relatively new and only 7 episodes in

Casefile True Crime - Australian bloke and the first two are Oz crimes and then it branches out to cover USA and UK.

I tried to listen to MDWAP and was too creeped out by it.

I've been listening to The West Wing Weekly podcast, which if you haven't seen/aren't a fan of The West Wing, won't be very interesting. But if you are, its quite funny, and actually refers to current events quite often, and also talks to cast members about their recollections of making it. I'm enjoying it, anyway.

This got a good write up in the Guardian, I've listened to the first 5mins and it seemed good.

I've been listening to My Favourite Murder which is a true crime podcast by two women comedians/writers. I do like it but it's got a bit of a weird cult-following on Facebook.

The facebook group is crazy. Every 30 secs (it seems) someone's posting about a grim murder and then you'll get a person from the UK posting something really tame.

There's a bit of an uproar at the mo as the admins for the group have went a bit power mad.

I've been listening to The Dollop. Two American comedians discussing American history.

The Richard Simmons one looks good.

I listened to The Dollop the other day, and enjoyed the couple I listened to. They managed to make the rise and fall of Enron really amusing.

The Bugle is good, I've been listening to that too.

The Enron episode was really good.

The first episode of theirs I listened to was 10c Beer Night. It would've been absolutely terrifying to be a part of but the retelling had me in tears of laughter.

You've reminded me I only listened to two episodes, so I will go back and check some others out. I need a podcast listening list or something, because I keep forgetting the ones I've tried once and twice and then forgotten to go back to.
