Another recent viewer of the Bros film here, and also found it very amusing. :))

Recent movies seen include How to Train Your Dragon 3, which was the boys' choice, but just as enjoyable as the other two, and just as heart-tugging, though in a different way. The characters end up as adults doing adult things at the end of it, which was a nice coda.

I watched various movies on the flights. The best was Battle of the Sexes, I just loved it, and it inspired to find out more about Billie Jean King. Despite being tennis fan I had no idea that she was one fo the co-founders of the ATP for example. Seeing it just after I saw her get the lifetime achievement award from the BBC at the SPOTY event put it all into context nicely.

I also watched Mamma Mia 2, which I thought was much better and more enjoyable than the first one. And Crazy Ricj Asians, which was very enjoyable, not least for the impossibly handsome leading man :flirt:

Absley, if you enjoyed RBG I assume you know that there's a biopic about her coming out soon? On the basis of Sex, starting Felicity Jones.

The 13th is brilliant. I must watch it again (as soon as I've finished R Kelly).

I saw a documentary last year about mid century tennis players and Billie Jean King seemed to have greatly changed the game, how it treated women and influenced women in sport, generally. You got the impression that she changed the idea that they were window dressing housewives that got good to serious athletes who did it with half the money and support.

Billie Jean King was (and is) incredible, and brave. A true pioneer. There's an excellent Storyville documentary about her, and the Battle of the Sexes match (which Derek recommended a while ago), but annoyingly it doesn't seem to be currently available. This one.

13th was excellent, I agree. So was the RBG doc. The R Kelly one is INFURIATING and I really hope he'll get his comeuppance eventually and people will stop playing his shitty, fucking music but I don't know.

I've steadfastly ignored the 13th so this has made me resolve to watch it.

We've started our aim to watch the 100 best films (having agreed which list to follow). So far we've watched All The Presidents Men, Some Like It Hot and Taxi Driver. The first was the best. 3 down, 97 to go!

Which list are you following Smalex? I love Some Like It Hot, it’s one of my favourite films

One which combined rotten tomatoes and imdb scores (or something). It was a good average between imdb itself (too populist) and things like BFI (pretty obscure).

We watched The Grand Budapest Hotel last night because it’s on our list. :)) It was unusual and I enjoyed it although I wasn’t quite concentrating at the end and need to rewatch the last five minutes when Mr Sax isn’t here so that I don’t have to admit that I wasn’t concentrating.

Watched Stan & Ollie on Saturday. Quite moving and John C Reilly is brilliant as Oliver Hardy.

I wish we'd seen Stan and Ollie last night. We saw The Favourite instead. Olivia Colman was fabulous (in fairness everyone was), and it was amusing/heart breaking in places, but man it dragged and wasn't really interesting. It was incredibly well done but lacked perhaps the oomph of Amadeus.

Are you doing it in order? And are you rewatching ones you’ve seen? We’ve decided to rewatch with the exception of Back to the Future which we’ve seen recently and don’t want to watch again.
