Oh, but the only thing that bothered me is why is Jude Law still allowed to be in films? He's completely wooden and really old and unattractive now, so brings absolutely nothing to the table.

I agree with that, Ken. I don’t know what he was doing in that film apart from being a Name. There were other cool actors on his ensemble who could have played his role more convincingly, thinking specifically of Djimon Hounsou.

Apart from that I enjoyed it, though I felt the narrative a bit skippy. I was both impressed and a bit distracted by how they made SLJ look young again.

Get Out (four Oscar nominations, won Best Original Screenplay) is on Netflix at the moment. It's described as a horror film, and it does evolve into classic horror, but it's much more than that, and is really worth a watch.

Is that the one where the description starts "Chris, who is black, is anxious about meeting his white girlfriend's parents at their country estate", Rosa? There seem to be a couple of films with the same name :). Thanks.

It is, although that's a terrible description, and they could have come up with a more unique title! It makes for uncomfortable viewing at times, but I did enjoy it.

The description really sounds different to the film you described :)). I might watch it this afternoon, thanks.

Is Get Out horror in that it's creepy (like The Woman in Black maybe), or that it's properly disturbing (like Saw)?

I can't cope with disturbing horror films, and it's definitely not that. It's more creepy, with comedy horror that makes you jump and then laugh. I didn't even have to sleep with the light on!

Get Out is absolutely brilliant. I really hate horror films usually. It’s more social commentary than anything else, I think. That’s why it’s so frightening. To me, anyway. :))

I have watched and enjoyed! I thought doing it in the middle of the day would be safer just in case. ;)

I did the same thing, Ken!

I was chatting to T about Get Out, and he reckons that Jordan Peele's latest film, Us, which I think is only on cinema release at the moment, is even better.

Get Out was so strange! Really intriguing and then... jumps the shark.

McQueen is now on Netflix. It's very well-made and, of course, very sad.
