Well, our house is on three levels, so one bathroom per level. Plus a private master bath on the top floor with a communal bathroom for the kids to share, so they don't invade our en suite. To be fair, the one on the main floor is just a powder room so it's more like 3.5 baths. I think if you had a master en suite in the UK it would be a similar set-up, except for the extra bathroom in the finished basement.

Our house is 6* beds, and we have a downstairs loo (is that a half?), family bath & en suite on the middle floor, and a bathroom (shower room) on the top floor. But I now feel like that’s not enough? :))

*i genuinely find this mortifying. And we are such chavs that we have more TVs than bathrooms. And people.

So you have 6 beds and 3.5 baths? No, sorry, not enough. What do you do with all your bedrooms?! We only have 3 proper bedrooms.

We-e-ell, we have a spare, a study and a ‘man cave’ that everyone uses, apart from me.

We don’t have more bedrooms than bathrooms either but most houses have an en-suite, Jack & Jill bathroom and a guest bathroom. So if you have basement you’ll often have guest bathroom down there plus and separate loo for non sleeping guests.

Basically the formula seems to be bathroom per bedroom plus guest loo otherwise known as a half bath on each floor. From my experience anyway of when we viewed a trillion houses and my friends houses.

I love to tell my friends that I grew up in a house with a shared bathroom and loo between 4 just for the look on their faces. :)) We have 3 baths and 5 bedrooms so are lacking.

Scrubbing all those loos and wiping all those basins though! :twitch:

We’ve gone from one bathroom to two plus downstairs loo, and as much as I love having that many, cleaning them is beyond tedious. Thankfully it’s Mr S’s weekend job, I just do the midweek maintenance.

Anyway. I love Selling Sunset, it’s genuinely my favourite telly of all time and I will watch the beach house one just to fill the gap.

I’m considering re watching all three series’s of SS again from the start though :hbeat:.

I don’t think that could be the worst use of your time Squirrel.

I may watch the whole thing again too. Although, I think there is an interesting looking reality home show popping up on Netflix soon about organizing. As much as I enjoy the property porn and bitchiness, I do love a good nosy at other peoples stuff. :))

We live in a small 3 bed terraced new build, and it's the first house with more than one loo that I've lived in since I was a nipper. So 3 beds and two loos, which feels so luxurious to me!

I'm also interested in the American focus on square footage. It's not a thing in UK house buying, even in metric, is it? Or am I an outlier. I know how many square metres roughly each room in my house is but I would have to work out the total m2, whereas Americans all seem to know their square feet immediately. It's not something that's mentioned in listings much, though I did just google it and apparently Rightmove have just brought out a tool to help people work out the price per m2. Over here we're more about number of bedrooms (and bathrooms!) I feel, when we talk about house size.

Our realtor talked about the square footage a lot when we were being shown around along with lot size. I remember looking at floor plans in the UK to compare sizes but not really hearing the estate agents make such a feature of it.

On SS we see the process of pricing a house and as it’s done based on an average price per square meter to stay in line with the local market I assume that’s why we hear more about it.

Same here on both counts! MDBH was so miserable and dull, such a shame. I thought it would make me desperately want to live in the Hamptons but as it is apparently populated by total wankers, I think I’ll take my imaginary millions elsewhere.

Have you organised your entire house into clear bins and arranged things in colour order yet Shoe? I was excited to put away the extra cornflakes that I bought when they were on offer, onto the “backstock” shelf :)).

But sure whether to mention it here or in a Strictly thread. Chrishell’s DWTS partner Gleb has split up with his wife…
