I quite liked it but a lot went over my head. I think theatre students might enjoy that one the most!

I think I just didn’t appreciate the theme.

So I’ve watched it again and enjoyed it much more on the second viewing, which is nearly always true for me and inside no 9. The podcast helps, too.

I loved it. I thought it was so good that they had really excellent people in it that didn’t remove their masks. The chair bit was great.

I love this series generally, and have watched and rewatched most episodes. I’m not sure how I feel about the latest episode yet; some of the lines were incredibly cheesy and it all felt a bit panto. Which, of course, could be how it was intended.

I loved it and thought it was really clever. I assumed that it was a homage to theatre, pantomime and historic clowning but could be wrong as I don't know enough about it. The modern references were great 'stop fleabagging'.

Isn't Pantalone a form of clowning and where modern pantomime comes from?

They explain it on the podcast. Some kind of original italian theatre called Comedia Dell'arte that was the original form of slapstick comedy. Traditionally they wore masks and you wear masks in heists so they kind of mashed them together. Obviously they explain it better than I do :))

Yes, this!

I liked it a lot, but I think it would have been very alienating to any new viewers.

Is anyone still watching this? I'm a bit behind but I watched the one with Adrian Dunbar last night. And Mrs Doyle! I really enjoyed it.

Yep, still avidly watching. I'm not so sure about this series. I think I can feel the Covid-ness about it. The most recent episode with Derek Jacobi has been my favourite - it was classic Inside No 9.

It was so good, wasn’t it?

The stories that spark the stories are just brilliant. I hadn’t realised about filming on location but it all made so much sense. I can’t quite express how much I love Reece Shearsmith either.

I have just started watching this on iPlayer and was startled to discover that it’s nothing to do with Downing Street at all! :mog:

Anyway, I’m quite enjoying it :))

Is Derek Jacobi the only person to be credited with two separate episodes of No 9?

I also loved that it seemed to be a nice follow on from his 'Devil of Christmas' episode with him finally getting his comeuppance.

Yes, he is. They said it was ok because he was voice only for his first appearance. :)
