As I said on FB, I couldn’t decide about that so volunteered when it’s showing at the town hall. It seems a bit “critics choice”. I shall report back on 11 Feb, when it finally reaches us!

I’ve also volunteered when they’re showing Nightmare Alley but it wasn’t a conscious choice.

Have you seen Boogie Nights Wenders? It’s like that but without the porn. The lad who plays Gary is the son of Philip Seymour Hoffmann in his first role too. He was brilliant.

That description makes me want to see it, Hazey. Boogie Nights is one of my favourite films.

I don’t think I have. I know Haim through their work with Vampire Weekend, so was intrigued about Alana and then read about Hoffman Jr being involved. But also wasn’t convinced.

Oh you must watch Boogie Nights Wenders, it’s a masterpiece. And the whole Haim family (sisters and parents) are in Licorice Pizza too- not a spoiler.

We watched Kingsman, which is Ralph Fiennes having a mid life crisis. Enjoyable, but not too exciting.

I watched Pig last night, which was good and weird but perhaps not the light experience I needed. Nicholas Cage was magnificent.

The last two films in my Sundance week were quite different. One called blood (lower case), which was a very quiet film. Hardly any dialogue and very calming music mostly (so don’t watch if you’re tired!), set in Japan mainly, and about a widowed woman going through grief. It’s quite dreamlike and I wasn’t always sure of the timeline of events as it definitely jumped around. I’d probably have to watch it again to work out what actually happened.

The other was Brian and Charles, a slightly bonkers British film about a tinkerer in the Welsh hills who builds a robot out of a washing machine and a dolls head. Apparently based on a short film and character created by the comedian who plays the lead. I quite enjoyed it, silly and sweet. Wales looks lovely, filmed around Snowdonia. I need to know what train station is right next to a river (maybe with a weir?) so I can go there.

I can't because we haven't seen the bloody thing yet, hence asking you. We were waiting for it to come to streaming. For all I know he might have been cut.

He played some kind of US General. I think he had a beard at the time. It feels like forever ago because, well, it was. That film sat on the covid shelf longer than James Bond.

I watched Deadly Cuts last night on Netflix which was fun. I needed subtitles for some of it though

There's a weir, just out of that shot. And a bonkers taxidermy shop across the road from the station.

Ohh it might well be, thanks Hobbes and Bats. Pretty either way! It was the last shot of the film so didn’t see the whole station just what looked like a platform running parallel to the water, with what looked like just a fence between the station and the water. The other side of the river just looked like a grassy bank.

I took the mini Postes to see Sing 2 over the weekend and it was really good! I'm glad we went to the cinema to see it as I enjoyed it much more than I would have half watching at home.
