I loved that book, it was so readable.
I really enjoyed that too.

I’ve finally finished Butter & did enjoy it in the end although it is far too long and there is weird event in the middle of the book that had no real impact on the main story. I also think the fact that it’s translated means that you’re not really getting the true essence of the writing. Some of the characterisations & conversations fell a bit flat. I did still like it overall but it was weird

I do love Belinda Bauer. I'm looking forward to the new one, I might reread Rubbernecker in preparation. I'm taking myself to the Lakes at weekend as I've Had Enough, so that would do nicely for a night in the YHA. :))

After three DNFs I've picked up the last but one Jackson Brodie then I am oriented to read the new one. You know where you are with a bit of Jackson Brodie. :love2:

Colleen Hoover books always sound quite misogynistic.

I've still not finished Fourth Wing because the relationship is really ticking me off. Anyway I have to read The Paris Library for book club before Thursday.

The new Richard Osman that isn't about the Thursday Murder club has finally become available to me so I am going to start that later.

I've just finished a Fiona Gibson which was pretty good.

I love Belinda Bauer too! She's so dark yet funny at the same time.

I'm ashamed to admit I DNF the new Jackson Brodie. I'm not going to read another of those ones as I just don't get them, although I love her standalone stuff. I'm on the new Ann Cleves, The Dark Wives, instead.

Just finished Pachinko, which definitely got worse as it went along. The male characters all felt decidedly flat to me and some of the chapter endings were preposterous.

Next, I'm either going to start Standard Deviation or the 6th one in the Slow Horses set.

A friend at French Club has lent me The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, which looks interesting; it says on the cover it was a Barack Obama book of the year pick.

I'm reading The Women by Kristin Hannah, about a nurse who served in the Vietnam War. It's very good although some of the description of injuries are quite graphic, I skim read those!

There's a new Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie book out next week so I might get that. I was disappointed that the new Curtis Sittenfeld book is a collection of short stories, I hate short stories.

I've ended up reading Fahrenheit 451 in the end. Love a bit of dystopia, although less so now that we're living through it again. :george:

I've just finished All The Light We Cannot See (WWII from the perspective of a French blind girl and as young German soldier) which I really enjoyed and now I'm halfway through Annie Bot which I'm also enjoying.

Just looked. It’s a series not a film. Forgot about that but I’m sure it was a lockdown watch. My bad. 2023. Feels like I watched it yonks ago!

I’ve just finished a book called Probably Nothing by Lauren Bravo (I think) and it wasn’t good.
Oh, that's a shame. I've just started it  I enjoyed Preloved, by the same author, so was hopeful about this one.

I'm also reading Rubbernecker by Belinda Bauer as the sequel was on a list of good crime fiction, and I like to start at the beginning. I seem to be drawn to books/tv with autistic protagonists at the moment.
I enjoyed Probably Nothing. Lauren Bravo does middle class cringe quite well.

Rubbernecker was excellent. I'm a bit too tight to buy the next one as soon as it comes out but will look at other Belinda Bauers. Right now I'm trying to decide whether to re-read the first five Jackson Brodies before Death at the Sign of the Rook.

The Last Days of Kira Mullen by Nicci French - read it in one day, pretty much. They're losing their way IMO - several loose threads and it wasn't terribly interesting.

I finished The Women last week, I liked it but I felt it was a bit too long. I am now reading Blue Sisters which I am really enjoying.
