I finished Three Days in June this morning and it was very good. Very Anne Tyler, and nicely moving.

I really emphasised with Olive. I know what it's like being married to a man who is universally well regarded.
She is a great character. I was strongly tempted to just get the next book straight away but need to read for book club now as the meeting is on Thursday.

I’ve not really any of those either but so many people I like say they’re good.

I spent a happy couple of hours in the bookshop yesterday watching what people were buying and drinking coffee. The Belper bookclub book this month is Americanah.

She is a great character, although I didn't like the TV version of her, played by Frances McDormand.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has a new one out which I'd like to read. Might get it when I come back to Blighty.

That’s Women’s Prize longlisted. Dream Count. I don’t think I much care for her, but I don’t have any really good reasoning.

I've almost finished Paris Echo. It's average.

I'm getting through the House of Fortune but it seems so anachronistic in the dialogue and whathaveyou. Jessie Burton seems to be more style than substance, but who am I to judge? She's laughing all the way to the bank.

I've got Dream Count on reserve from the library.

I started Sunrise on the Reaping today (new Hunger Games prequel) and it’s very good.

Re: Read the Room
I'm listening to an audio book of All Fours by Miranda July. Its about a peri-menopausal women who goes on a road trip but actually has a romantic, awakening sort of affair. Its a bit indulgent and amusing and also very explicit at times so I obviously lowered the volume through my headphones on the tram home yesterday so no-one else could hear.
Its a good listen and the protagonist reminds me a bit of a Lionel Shriver-type character - not very likeable but well written.

It’s on the Women’s Prize shortlist, announced today. My sister is going to supply them again for my birthday. She’s been raving about All Fours for ages.

I withdraw this. It ended up being very good indeed and quite moving.

Re: Read the Room
You did, I just found it.
The author is narrating this audiobook and she has a low throaty voice with an exaggerated vocal fry. I feel a bit repulsed tbh.

I'm not thrilled with The House of Fortune but I'm nearing the end now. Then I think I'm going to read The Blind Assassin. Or I might try #7 of Slow Horses.

I'm currently reading a thriller written by a male author from the POV of a woman. He's not really pulling it off.
