I want Lisa Jewell to go back to the wonderful ordinary stories she used to write. There's too many thrillers floating around.

The Ramble Book was funny, sad and most enjoyable. I'm on The Sixth Queen: Katheryn Howard, The tainted Queen by Alison Weir. This is such A good series.

I’m making my way through the Ray Paterson/Johnny Clocks series by Steve Parker. London police procedurals, a bit masculine (the main policemen beat pretty much every suspect up, both men and women) but they are enjoyable enough and reasonably short so I can be confident of reaching my yearly challenge total.

How many are you trying to read, Chicky? This is the first year I'm anywhere near reading 52 books (I'm on 45 - thanks lockdown!) but I don't think I'm going to quite manage it.

I’m on 46/40 for the year.

I'm on 58 and hoping to make it to 60 but I didn't set a target.

I'm reading The Guest Book by Sarah Blake and enjoying it a lot so far. It's about a rich American family and there's a lot of stuff about race in there.

I loved that. That one sentence near the beginning. “And then [...]”

I’ve just finished Grange House by the same author. It’s very different, but still enjoyable. The Postmistress was better.

I’m on 94/100 for the year so nearly there. (I tend to read reasonably short, easy books and I read quickly!)

Wow, Chicky! I'm on 47/50 but have sneaked a few Quick Reads in :look:

I'm reading the new(?) Dorothy Koomson: All My Lies Are True. Slow burner so far.

God, I think I've read around 25 so far! Mind you, the Mirror and the Light took me forever!

I used to do over 200 a year but this year has only been 67 so far.

Starting the Mirror and the Light coincided with me losing my reading mojo at the start of Lockdown 1 and it took me about 2 months to read - I would be doing much better without that! I only really got my reading mojo back part way through.

The first number I understand due to your commute. The second is woah, you have twins!!

I read about 5 books the year Squeak was born.

I read loads when I had small babies. I always seemed to be stuck feeding or with one napping on me. I didn't have twins, though!

They've all been very easy reads and I've not had a night this year when I haven't been awake in the small hours. ;)

I have actually slowed down a lot recently now they don't require so much holding while they sleep (and get more distracted by me using my phone).

I have started using Storygraph rather than Goodreads so have no idea how many I've read now. I feel awful after the end of the Katheryn Howard book (spoiler: she dies) so am cheering myself up with Bill Bryson's Body book.

I"m on 49 for this year so far. The last couple of years have been understandably crap with regards to reading for me.

I've just finished The Best Things by Mel Giedroyc which I did not enjoy at all.

I read A Sprinkle of Sorcery, which is a YA book that a work friend lent me. It was a quick read but I’m not moved to read any of the others.

I've just finished Apeirogon - which is about an Israeli and a Palestinian who both have daughters who were killed and promote peace. It's a fictionalised account of a true story, and I enjoyed it, but it's very literary fiction so wasn't the easiest read.

As per the Christmas reading thread, I'm now reading Piranesi which I'm really enjoying.

I've just finished Three Little Truths by Eithne Shortall. I didn't see the point in it at all.

I’ve just finished Rebus #2, Hide & Seek. I didn’t love it.

What shall I read next? I have nothing unread apart from other Rebus books and I’m in no rush.
