I've just read Priestdaddy, by the same person who wrote No One Is Talking About This (although Priestdaddy is an autobiography). I loved it! It was so funny.

It made me laugh to see that it's categorised as a Pornography Biography, but it honestly isn't one .

I’ve finished The Light Years. The question is, shall I go straight to book two while I have the players all straight in my mind, or have a change?

I would read straight on.

I've just finished The Sleeping Beauties by Suzanne O'Sullivan which was absolutely fascinating, about mysterious illnesses including food allergies, and am now on George V by Jane Ridley about, well, George V.

I love the idea of a porn biography being in your Goodreads list

Warning: it may make you spontaneously combust.

I've just finished it and I'm glad it's over. I'll be recommending it to all the women I know, though. And any men I think might read it, but that's probably limited to my brother and my Uncle Mike. :))

I started reading Richard Osman's first book but have stopped already.

It's a particular type of writing that I really don't like but I can't articulate what it is. Very English, cosy, middle classish humour. "It must have been a Tuesday, because it was shepherds pie".

I can't explain. Anyway I find it sets my teeth on edge. This thread did make me join my library though and I got it from there.

I found the writing a bit annoying too. It was a weird mix of lampooning the characters and being affectionate for them which I found jarring and didn't work.

I'm reading the new Aisling one and absolutely loving it. She's such a brilliant character.

I know what you mean. It feels like it's been written to be an itv Sunday evening drama.

Yeah, I read the first one out of curiosity but wouldn't bother with any of the rest. I found it quite twee.

I'm reading Rachel's Holiday, some parts of it are weirdly familiar considering I originally read it about 25 years ago. I think I re read it maybe a few years after that. I'm quite enjoying it though.

I read the first one too and quite enjoyed it, but I couldn’t get into the second one at all, and stopped after two chapters which is very unlike me.

Mr tried reading the first one and said the same as you and others Marth, he just couldn’t get away with the style of writing. He finished it but said it was more hard work than anything else!

My Kindle is being delivered tomorrow. My first book I’ll get for it will be Prep by Curtis Sittenfield. I’m nearly done with The Other Side of the Story which is such a lovely Marian Keyes read.

I’m so glad to hear I’m not the only one who doesn’t get on with Richard Osman’s books. I so much wanted to enjoy his writing and was starting to feel like it was a character flaw that I just don’t.

I'm still going to give his second a go when it comes into the library, but I'm not enthused enough to pay for it.

Changed my mind on books, and am on Commonwealth by An. Patchett now. I’m enjoying it a lot (and am loving my Kindle!)

Glad you are enjoying your Kindle, Est! I like Commonwealth, and really need to read Prep as that's probably the only Curtis Sittenfeld I haven't read yet (actually, that's a lie as I haven't read the Hilary one yet either).

I've finished As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning by Laurie Lee which is the follow up to Cider with Rosie and is about his travels through Spain in the mid-1930s.

I'm now reading Bewilderment by Richard Powers which I had put off as I read a pretty dismissive review, but I'm actually really enjoying it.

I found Rodham a bit hard going but I haven't read any of her others.

I'm also finding Troubled Blood hard going but mainly because the book is so massive that it's annoying to read. I still don't love reading on a kindle but in this case, I should have gone for that option.

I read the newest Liane Moriarty the other day (Apples Never Fall). It was pretty good and not too heavy.
I read that over Christmas too and enjoyed it.
I’m listening to this now. I needed something different after three Inspector Wexford books in a row!
