It is quite strange, addressing an entity.

It's a good tactic to help the witness keep themselves calm, too, making them remember they are there to give information to help the court, not to get into an argument with the cross-examiner. It sounds like OP is using it like a bit of a mantra, he says it so often.

I think the prosecutor is being way more brutal here than we would normally see because there is no jury. You would not expect a judge to be swayed by feeling sorry for the accused, but juries can be, so you wouldn't normally go all out to break him as Nels seems to want to do.

I'm starting to feel sorry for him, and I think hes guilty :)) so I can see your point.

The last few days, him being cross examined, don't seem to have gone particularly well (for him), by all accounts.

I wonder what his people will come up with now. I don't see him being found not guilty though, now.

Me neither.

I've been watching a fair amount if it and had a terrible dream last night that I was in the dock being interrogated by Nel.

How can it take two days? He's either guilty or he isn't.

It doesn't work like that in S.Africa though, from what I've read/heard. There's a range of possible outcomes, and she has to recap all the evidence and arguments and stuff :technicalterms:

It's more like delivering a judgement in a civil case (they can go on for 50 pages or so when typed up!) than a straightforward guilty/not guilty verdict.

The BBC said earlier that there are around 100 pages of summing up!

It must be terrible for Pistorius having to sit there, you'd think they'd put him out of his misery (well, everyone, really) and announce the outcome first before going through all the reasoning

I keep thinking that. Specially what with the trial having gone on so long in the end.
