Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
How is a 6 bedroom house so cheap? That's amazing.
I saw a house that didn't have a single widow at the back when we were looking. I'll see if I can find it.

At least you'd be able to wander around in your pants without anybody seeing you.

It's really odd. I presume the rooms have no windows on that side of the house so must be really dark.

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
I used to visit a house that had windows blocked in to avoid some ancient form of tax. The owners had painted the bricked-up apertures black. To me, as a child, it was the creepiest thing ever.Marth wrote:I want to chalk windows on it.

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
I think window tax was fairly widespread for a couple of hundred years, but not as recently as these houses were built. I'm never sure why people seem to have bricked up windows recently (as in, during the past couple of centuries). I am probably missing something very obvious!

Re: Strange & Unusual Houses
If you knew you could not have upstairs windows, and you were building from scratch, why not build something interesting and clever rather than a normal boring house but with no eyes? At the very least they might have been able to do something with glass bricks.

Four bathrooms and two WCs on the floor plan. Someone local, go and visit and tell us about the kitchen and inside.Figaro wrote: It sounds like it only has one bathroom for 6 bedrooms though :bob:

Chunk and I regularly pass this place on our walk & toastie jaunts on a Friday. I'm not sure about it.

It's such an odd shape. The gardens are lovely though. I'd buy it, knock it down and rebuild :affordable:

I think that house exemplifies the fact that you can't buy taste

I don't mind that house. I'd definitely redecorate, but I think I could live with the odd shape.

I could live with that, given a boatload of redecoration. My ex-husband would love it just as it is, though - maybe I'll send him the link.

That bar! It'd be like drinking in a sauna. I don't like the shape either - despite it being a lot of sq ft I think I'd feel quite hemmed in on those corridors.

Are those walls mouldy?
I don't mind the wonky house, the gardens are amazing. What's going on in the Simpsons Room though?
