Who challenges it (that's a genuine question, I literally have no idea who polices this stuff :? ) The Supreme Court Judges are Republicans, thus in Trump's pocket, and I'm not sure (like here, with Brexit) it's easy for an ordinary citizen to bring a case. Possibly someone else could bring one? Law firm? Wealthy person? Both countries have checks and balances but they seem to either be bought out (judges), weak (Labour) or a small, wealthy, brave (to withstand the media's abuse) group of regular people (Gina Miller and team, Jolyon Maugham QC who's bringing the case in Dublin.)Red wrote: How has the Russian hands in the election thing just gone away? For so long it's seemed there's always been a higher place for a problem to be challenged. Yet when it occurs so high up... where next?
It may also be that unless they literally tampered with the voting machines, they can only be criticised for influence and not for actually rigging the election. The emails were pretty dull reading with nothing truly explosive. The false headlines and hysteria that came after swung voter's views but it could be argued the people nonetheless had 'free choice' which way to vote, especially those who handed Trump victory by voting for nonsensical third parties. Democracy's gotta factor in people reading dumb shit on the internet, and even if the hack hadn't happened, there'd have been plenty of that about.
If it's any consolation, the internet is mocking the sparse-looking crowd (numbering in the 100s) at Trump's shindig compared to Obama's, a sea of 400,000 people.
It's going to be a hell of a four years for the history books, isn't it?
Perhaps he's more malleable alive than dead. People will be using him to get what they want. He isn't a right-wing Christian fundamentalist, but he'll give them the schools, for example, and their abortion ban. He'd probably find it inconvenient if medical care becomes a global disgrace and the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières have to rush in, but if that's what big business wants, that's what they'll get. He's also very thick and won't question this stuff.Ella77 wrote:Somebody must be planning to shoot him, surely?
Pence is a fundie, but he's not as intellectually challenged.
