Omg. I want this with every fibre of my being :ready:. Can you tell me what else was on it, please?
Ummm...some kind of burger sauce. Possibly a nod to health with some salad, I can't recall. But the halloumi and mushroom were just cooked to perfection, and the mushroom juices had soaked into the bun but hadn't made it soggy :hbeat: It was properly perfect.

lately : Iberico Great Portand Street - always feel for the price this is quite overrated
Noura, Belgravia - pre-theatre - good as any London Lebanese I have done for quick meals
Nipa Thai - Royal Lancaster Hotel - love this mainly for the soft shell crab and they don'y stint on spicing and the service is always aaaamaaazing
La Rosetta, Brentford, my local - food could be better but love the ambience
Oliveira, Sheen Road - better than good vegetarian branching out to Old Street soon - marvellous and inventive chef

Mine have been classy as fuck.

BRGR in Giffnock, which was mediocre at best. I had a beef and haggis burger, Penne had a cheeseburger, and we shared parmesan sweet potato fries and onion rings.

Doner Haus (again) which I love. The chilli teller was the best for soaking up Friday's booze. The Oreo waffle was immense too.

Cafe Gandolfi for brunch on Monday. Somehow bacon pancakes were disappointing. I'll stick to the southside for brunch in future.

I'm pretending I'm moving for schools, but I just want pancakes.

On a recent trip to London we ate at The Palomar, where we were sat at the cocktail bit of the bar which was bloody noisy with the most annoying cocktail maker bloke talking to us constantly. We were also really pressured to either order more or get the bill and fuck off, so we were in and out in less than an hour. Per minute I think it's the most expensive meal I've eaten.

The next night we ate at Bancone. I had the silk handkerchiefs after seeing them recommended on here, they were super lush but so rich. :fat:

Locally we just ate at a seafood bar that people queue to get into, but we happened to walk past earlyish when there were tables free. Very nice fish, tapas style, fresh from the fish market down the road.

Now, I diet.

We joke that we’re usually hustled out of restaurants. The record is three courses in 45 minutes.

Next week we’re going to meet up in Leicester after work and go to Grounded Kitchen which is getting too busy to visit at lunchtimes. It’s not in the least bit fancy but MrMcLip will love it.

I have also been to Railhouse - had to say that I found it really noisy :granny: I just wanted to eat nice food and chat with my friend :(

I was lucky enough to have lunch a Palomar earlier this year (we had to book weeks in advance) and agree that we were very encouraged to "order more". Food was delicious but we would have wasted the experience by being too full to really enjoy it, so we refused to over order.

We went to the Palomar with the kids one lunchtime and loved it. Esp the desserts and coffee. I didn’t feel any pressure to order more and they were very sweet with the children.

We were a last minute booking though and super relieved to find somewhere as the place S booked turned us away as they don’t accept kids under 8.

We commented that it was amazing to be in such a big space and still be able to hear each other speak! Maybe they've learnt their lesson since you went and turned down the background music? :fc:

I've been to Palomar as well, with Livilla, and I just remember amazing cocktails and some friendly service. Maybe it depends who you get on the day.

I remember the service being VERY chatty but we were up at the counter next to Americans so they took on the job of entertaining the man serving us. Don't recall pushy, but am quite greedy. :))

I think it was more a case of if you're not ordering more then we will bring you the bill thankyouverymuchnowbuggeroff. It was the pre-theatre session so I knew we couldn't lounge for ages, I just wasn't expecting it to be quite so overt! We didn't feel so rushed in Bancone at the same time the next day.

Today I had one of the best lunches I have ever eaten. Seriously. It was at Yima, rue d'Aubagne in Marseille (Noailles). A fusion food place. Israeli, North African, Greek... Not cheap but wow!!! It's a teeny tiny place. The cheffe and her team cook in front of the counter. Fantastic!!

I have since learnt that the cheffe was a candidate in French Top Chef 2018 and was eliminated in the first round.

That sounds delicious, SunnyMum. What did you have?

We went to a local vegan place last night for supper and it was delicious. They do tapas dishes and mains. I had vegetable fritters, roast cauliflower and beetroot dip with za’tar flatbreads and D had Mediterranean vegetables with their version of a doner kebab (using seitan), and we shared chips with some kind of seasoning. I am usually quite reluctant to go to pure vegan places as I do like meat but it was really good.

We shared acouple of starters : courgette flower fritters and aubergine fritters with a yohgurty, spicy dip. Then I had roasted green beans with roasted hazelnuts and garlic with a tahini sauce. A pal had a roasted sweet potato stuffed with pemegranate and other things I can't remember. Dessert was a roasted peach with yohgurt ice-cream with a sprinkling of powdered verbena.
Funnily enough I found an article about this place in a magazine when I sorting out the recycling! I'll dig it out as it has a photo of the sweet potato dish.

That does sound really delicious, SM. I especially like the sound of the courgette flowers and the dessert.
