We weren't going to bother but I needed a wee and then we went back in after that and saw it.
If your back's against the wall, turn around and write on it.

I saw Apollo 11 this evening. The footage is remarkable, and the score is excellent. It’s beautifully done.

Midsommar was brilliant and a total headfuck. More bizarre than Hereditary, if you can imagine such a thing.

My friend and I went to see Midsommar yesterday as a break from our PhD shizz. It was excellent. I want to say something about the ending but won't spoiler it

Would I enjoy it if I wasn't hugely a horror fan (it's not a genre I'd seek out but I don't mind the odd one now and then?)

Yes, I never watch horrors. It wasn't particularly scary, just fucked up.

We saw Brightburn the other day. I really enjoyed it, although it had a lot more gore in it than I was expecting.
We also saw the most recent Annabel film, which I found really predictable and boring. J doesn't think I'm human as I often don't jump at horror films. I did in this one when a box closed loudly. A BOX.

A new Blade!
They’ve said the films will tie in with the series too! I’ll probably just get from Canada.

I’m also even excited about the announcements. However, Stan which is an Aussie streaming service already has all of the MCU and Disney exclusively over here. I hope that doesn’t change with the Disney streaming service.

Can we have a thread? My friend and I saw this last night - very late - and it was bizarre but brilliant. Like The Wicker Man on acid.Smunder Woman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:22 am My friend and I went to see Midsommar yesterday as a break from our PhD shizz. It was excellent. There were a couple of gory bits but nothing hugely horrid.

We went and saw The Dead Don't Die. I thought it looked good in trailers but it was a bit weird and the ending seemed rushed as well as having characters that at the end you just asked "well, what happened to them?"

Re: Film 2019
I took J & S to see The Lion King today, which like all the Disney "live" remakes so far was better than I was expecting. Really though, the movie has such beautifully scored emotional high points, they'd really have to screw up to not get those working I was amused how we were surrounded by twenty-somethings, all cheerfully saying how it had been their favourite movie when they were children and they were really looking forward to re-living it. No wonder Disney has had a record year for profits...

Re: Film 2019
I am annoyed with Disney as they refused to allow a local cinema to show The Lion King and Toy Story 4 at the same time. This reminds me, I need to complain to them.
Saw Once Upon A Time in Hollywood tonight. It was much better than any of Tarantino's previous work and very well done. It also made me feel desperately sad at the end, but in a good way, if that makes any sense. It was long but I didn't notice and really enjoyed it.

I’m on my way home from seeing Downtown Abbey. Fans of the TV show will love it. All the cast are in it, and there are several subplots (the main one is a Royal visit to Downton).
I enjoyed it, but it is very long.

I saw it last night Morg, I did enjoy it but felt they tried to get every funny quip and character into it and it felt a bit more “forced” than the gentle speed of the tv series. That said I enjoyed it but yes it was long! X

Would a four year old find the lion king remake scary? I would like to take my girls (and I really want to see it too ) bit I’m not sure if it’s suitable...

Penne's son loved it, and he's a very sheltered four year old.

It's a kids film, it will be fine. My 5 year old enjoyed it but be loves the cartoon version.
