Re: Film 2019
I saw Joker on Saturday, it was really dark and uncomfortable but I did enjoy it. Joaquin was very very good. It wasn’t as violent as I thought it was going to be actually (no worse than most Tarantino films anyway) but it was very menacing. Gotham is terrifying.
I read somewhere that Gary Glitter isn’t getting any royalties from it at least.

I saw Terminator: Dark Fate on Friday. It was OK, but pretty predictable.

I went to see this last week, and agree it was cosy but a little contrived. It was like watching a long episode of it but it was very watchable, and I took my mum who needed a distraction and it was ideal for that!

I saw Gemini.
Well . . .I saw about 15 minutes of it, fell asleep and then saw about the last 10 minutes.

That’s a shame, H1ppy. I’ve read a couple of glowing reviews about the strong female leads and was hoping it would be better than that.H1ppychick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 12:08 pm I saw Terminator: Dark Fate on Friday. It was OK, but pretty predictable.
I took S to the cinema for the first time yesterday and saw Farmageddon. It was fun but not as engaging as the Wallace and Gromit films.

I really liked it. It’s not going to win any oscars, but T2 is one of my favourite films ever so I was always going to enjoy this as a (proper) sequel.Froozy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 9:07 pmThat’s a shame, H1ppy. It was so heavy on the action scenes that I was exhausted by the end And it was great to see a film like that (pure cheesy 80s/90s action) with female leads.

Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon.
Was wondering about asking someone if I could borrow a smallish child to go see this at the cinema- I really needn’t have worried because there were loads of other adults on their own too. It was absolutely brilliant, laugh out loud wipe the tears away funny.

We saw Dr Sleep on Friday. It was rather slow and weird, and pretty disappointing really. The story worked better as a book.

Frozen 2. Not a patch on the original but of course I cried at the end anyway because sisterly love. Any time Olaf the snowman was on was my favourite bit along with Christoph’s 90s boyband song- everyone in the cinema over the age of 35 was pissing themselves

Le Mans ‘66. Enjoyable apart from Christian Bale’s accent (he seemed to be channeling Dick van Dyke) and the fact the whole movie is basically white men having a pissing contest with each other.

Ken Miles was a Brummie, wasn’t he? And Bale grew up in the UK. That’s funny his accent is crap then. I decided I’d wait until that came on Sky, and your review makes me think that was wise!
I cried loads at Frozen. Sisters and mum/sister things always get me. I thought Christoph’s song was funny too, and have read reviews where the writer hasn’t got it.

First movie of the year. Knives Out - it was absolutely cracking, a proper who-dunit and the lead actress was superb.

Not at all 2019, but I watched The Defiant Ones last night and thoroughly enjoyed it - much more than I was expecting to for a 60 year old film about racism.

Rise of the Skywalker.
I laughed, I cried, I went to eek and had to slap a hand over my mouth on more than one occasion, I cried some more.
I really loved it.

This is the best (new) film I’ve seen in ages. Wonderful acting, darkly funny and so entertaining. I want to see it again already.Cosmopolitan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 11:11 am First movie of the year. Knives Out - it was absolutely cracking, a proper who-dunit and the lead actress was superb.

Me three, it was fantastic. I especially loved Daniel Craig's outrageous southern accent.

I saw Jumanji: The Next Level today. I utterly loved it. It was hilarious! The last bit in the game made me cry though (in my defence it made me think of Jango)
