Christmas crafts 2019

Incorporating hobbies, computer games, Verm's Interesting Links and anything else you can think of excluding football and other spectator sports because these belong in the Sport section, but allowing sports you play yourself with your own body as that counts as a pastime.

I’m creeping in here :ninja: as the boys are making these for their teachers as Christmas gifts. They have a different teacher for each subject so we have around 15 to make.

T’s Occ Therapist recommended these bead kits for his fine motor activities and the boys* have loved making them. 6 down, 9 more to go!!

All I need to do is attach some ribbon on the back so it can be used a a tree decoration. I haven’t ironed the ones on the boards yet.

* which is surprising as T shares my aversion to crafts.

Strangely enough, I also used these for J, olive. :)) I usually iron on both sides, btw, for strength but it obviously changes the look.

Hama beads do give me massive plastic guilt though.

Meh. In comparison to vast swathes of plastic on every other toy it seems quite small.

Those are great olive! George also went through a mega Hama bead phase. There’s a good app where you can do your own designs.

I only iron on one side because it’s neater.

Actually olive, get your parents to bring some Hama beads over if the boys are into them. They iron and hold much better than the US perler beads or the cheap kits from Michaels etc.

They’re cute aren’t they and I agree the snowflake is the nicest.

Yesterday I helped decorate the Christmas trees at the boys school and it we had to MAKE these massive bows to sit on the top.

I hated doing it and was so glad when it was over.

It’s beautiful. Very stylish. I got the same fabric to make bunting!

That's brilliant! I love the fabric too, and you've done it so neatly. I tried making patchwork once and it was more like crochet

That’s lovely, Beatrix! Your piecing is very neat.

We’ve made a version of emma’s snowmen! We are very not crafty so this is quite an achievement 😄

I made one of the origami trees that EmmaP posted and it was so easy! I’ll make some more and scatter them around the house...
