I definitely thought it got better. And I hope you love it if you give it a go.

I got the Crawdads from here. My stomach was hurting for Kya - it was so, so good.

I enjoyed Olive Kitteridge too.

The Byron dynasty story was excellent. I am now on Vietnam by Max Hastings. I don't think I will be able to read this nonstop.

I've just finished I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella.

I don't know why I bother reading any of her books though, I just hate almost all of the characters

Oh, I hadn't seen that, Lola!

I love Sophie Kinsella.

I'm reading The Confession by Jessie Burton.

I loved The Essex Serpent but didn't get on with Melmoth. I think she upped the heaving bodice drama element a bit too far for me on that one.

I have discovered the library has Vox, so I might try and pick that up today. I have read English Heritage's collection of ghost stories, the one with a Jeanette Winterson contribution. Three good (JW, Mark Haddon, Kamila Shamsie), rest okay enough. Then I demolished the latest Cara Hunter, who I like for seriously fast paced rattling police drama. Though they all have GAPING plot holes when you finish and think 'yes, well...' Good bath reads though.

So far this year I have read We Are Called to Rise, which was excellent and before that I read The Beekeeper’s Promise by Fiona Valpy, which was good too. Now I’m reading The Muse by Jessie Burton, which I’m enjoying so far.

I really liked The Confession. It was the perfect mix of easy to read but with some depth and good writing.

Yes! I really enjoyed it. I got 5 books from the library yesterday and have read 2 already. :)) Shouldn't have got novellas instead of novels. :))

I ended up enjoying A Million Dreams more than I expected; it didn't attempt to be a more heavyweight book than it was.

Loved this, predictably :)) I read it in two sittings.

I'm now reading Scrublands. I'm only a few chapters in but so far it is very Jane Harper, so thanks to whomever posted that Guardian link (Bats?)

I've just finished Cherry Slice by Jennifer Stone.
I'd say it was like a poor, Essex version of Stephanie Plum but with more swearing.

I'm glad it was good, Lora! I might treat myself rather than waiting for the library.

I've just started Spring by Ali Smith.

I've just finished The Perfect Couple by Jackie Kabler. Thanks to the fact that I was feeling unwell and didn't do a great deal at work today.

Not sure what to read next.

I took a break from Vietnam to read Oscar Wilde and the Ring of Death by Gyles Brandreth, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
