Re: Labour Leadership : Reboot 2019
There's mostly pretty decent town centres etc round here but we have the most expensive bus routes in the UK so it's a bit rubbish if you don't drive. I used to work for the council's transport department and because the councillors are mostly Tories all they cared about was making the roads pot hole free for their fancy cars.

Apparently my local party has had 250 extra members in the last couple of months.

Re: Labour Leadership : Reboot 2019
Our CLP voted for Lisa Nandy, but I'm not sure if they kind of have to when she's the sitting MP. Like it would be incredibly rude not to. I'm still taking it as a positive that they might not have gone completely Momentum though. I might go to the Labour Women's Forum and knit at them sometime.
In other news I am in still pissing myself at McCluskey saying Richard Burgon has a vision. Honestly, he's elected, isn't he? McCluskey. Do I need to join Unite to get him out as well? FFS.

Richard Burgon would make the party even more dead than it is already. He’s just so... unlikeable.

Rebecca Long-Bailey, Angela Raynor and Lisa Nandy have all signed up to Trans Labour's lovely 12 pledges. BBC article. I am just trying to decide if I can be arsed emailing Lisa Nandy. I am really really disappointed in her. I thought she might manage an on the fence 'we need discussion and consultation on this contentious issue'. Not 'Women's Place UK are a hate group'.
I wonder if Keir's lot are trying to word something like that right now. Otherwise mine's going to be one of the shorter lived rejoin memberships.

I think I'm going Starmer and Rosena Allin-Khan. And then, when they don't win, I'll probably leave the party.

I've emailed her. She's pretty good at sending back two page letters, I'll let you know if I get anything.

My CLP just voted for RLB and Angela Rayner. Last night. So after all the misogyny.
I am just relieved that my brother in law sent me a video of a squirrel eating some naan, because that's the best thing that's happened in a week or so.

I shouldn't have done my Jackson Brodie odyssey because I keep getting 'WHEN will there be good news?' in my head like an earworm.
I think we just have to hope the squirrels take over the world somehow.

It's too mild and they're all fat and have lost their edge.

I'm going to email Nandy as well, esp as my CLP nominated her and Butler last night.

I just want a lefty, green political party that's actually committed to upholding women's existing rights. I'm totally jaded, I don't even expect the men in it to do any work on that, but is it that fucking HARD to just to commit to them in the constitution? Really?

Emily Thornberry has signed up, with a few minor codicils, she doesn't like calling Women's Place a hate group.

Re: Labour Leadership : Reboot 2019
I am so disappointed with Labour AGAIN. Kier has supported for 10 LGBT pledged but so far NOT signed the Labour Trans pledge.
This should probably go on the 'other' thread but I'm starting to feel a bit frightened by how this thing is gathering pace.
