Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
Topsy is P's mum's only granddaughter, and several of his family made a big thing about how great it was to have a girl, which makes me really annoyed on Tim's behalf.

Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
Poor Tim. That's so unfair of people to make those sort of comments.
I have two boys, and my sister has two boys (as does D's sister), but thankfully haven't had any comments to our face about it*. A girl coming into the family now, might feel a little outnumbered.
*I did have one old school friend write in the congratulations card to me, how happy she was that she was a mum to a girl and a boy, which I thought was a bit of an odd thing to write! I wrote in my thank you card, how happy I was to have two boys, knowing how close they'll be growing up together! :mature:

Re: Early Pregnancy Thread
Bert is the only girl amongst the cousins and my sister definitely plays favourites, but that's more about her having wanted a girl, and Bert hates being the only one so I figure it balances out. The boys don't really seem to notice although it would have been different if it were a grandparent doing the favouring.

That's breathtakingly rude, Rhod!

Poor Tim! And Rhod what a strange thing to say in a congratulations card.
My best friend has a similar set up to you Ken. Her MIL told her that if her third was another boy, she wouldn't be doing any regular childcare.

People are dicks, although I was just as bad! Maybe that's why she didn't send me a Christmas card this year!
Good luck with the scan, Beatrix!

Sometimes the only appropriate response is to needle someone the way they've tried to needle you, Rhod!

I remember one of the midwives asking me if I'd try again to have a girl, while I was holding my less than an hour old youngest (and 3rd boy). People just don't think

What a rude thing for her to do Rhod. An old competitive friend was similar when she was having her second. She thought my second had been a girl so was quite smug about having one of each. As if it really mattered at all!
Good luck with the scan Beatrix, I hope it’s nice and clear.

That's great! Although I'm sorry that they're being awkward already. ;)

They could share a birthday with mine then! Or Conchie or Biggie. ;)

That's great Beatrix, I hope the rest of the pregnancy is kinder to you.
Unfortunately baby wasn't cooperating and still had the cord between its legs (as it did at 12 weeks). It was such a lovely scan though, she spent about 45 mins trying, so we got a really good look at baby. We are back next Sat for a rescan!

I did the same thing, always had a later date in my head to focus on. I told most people my due date was 2 weeks later than it was too!
Fingers crossed baby will be in a better position next time, lorri.

I'm so pleased to read that you're feeling a bit better Beatrix!
That's annoying, Lorri, but quite nice to get an extra scan.

That must be a very welcome break to feel a bit more normal, Beatrix! Long may it continue.
Sorry you didn't find out the brand of baby, Lorri! Must be so frustrating when you were looking forward to find out. Ah well, an excuse for another scan!
Speak of which, whist I am still feeling like a fraud in the pregnancy stakes, I have booked an early scan on Fri 6th March, I'll be approx. 7+5. Eeeeeek! Scared and excited. Fingers crossed.

I'll be sure to eat my words, but I hope so! So worried I will get there and they will say there is no heartbeat. But I guess that is every woman's fear.
Must remain positive!
