Oasis and Warehouse are definitely both closing down. Those poor staff members.

Re: The 2020 Death Pool
It’s just awful. We’re all going to be reduced to looking in the same 5 shops and people will be out of work. I realise that looks like my priorities are wrong, I don’t mean them to be!

So much of my wardrobe is Warehouse and I tried too.

Re: The 2020 Death Pool
I must about 50% warehouse. 20% oasis. The rest is a mix. I know you live in a bubble but I know loads of people who used them both an awful lot, it feels hard to believe there isn't a business worth saving in there.

The brand & stock has been bought by Hilco, so it will be “saved”.

Re: The 2020 Death Pool
I rarely use oasis but warehouse has been my go to shop for years. It was a really good balance of quality and price. Most of the alternatives have annoyingly inconsistent sizing and/or quality (H&M, New Look etc) or are pricey and a bit middle aged.
Obviously it's worst for people losing their jobs but it's a real gap in the market.

Re: The 2020 Death Pool
They have been bought, asset stripped and sold on again a few times in the last few years so while they probably would make a profit if they were normal, they've got such a big debt, they'll never get clear. It's a shocking practise.

Re: The 2020 Death Pool
I really agree Ken. Occasional exceptions apply but - I find M&S and Next a bit ageing, New Look/Topshop/River Island too young/poor quality, H&M are ok but really randomly sized and quality differs hugely. Cos, Hobbs, and others of that ilk are a bit expensive for me for staples (and never feel that appropriate to my lifestyle). Zara is a bit way out.
That makes sense Cos (well, the actual asset stripping doesn't, but your explanation does!).

Looks like J Crew’s up next. It had seriously lost its way, but it used to have some nice stuff (back when you could order direct from the States and pay less).

This exactly. I feel like I'm going to have to go on some kind of big mission to find a new shop that's me when this is all over.smalex wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 10:53 am I really agree Ken. I think Warehouse as a brand will kind of survive.

Re: The 2020 Death Pool
I don't understand why Oasis and Warehouse are falling down so much, when I know so many people who buy stuff from there! As you say, I can't think of another brand which could fill the gap. River Island at a push I suppose.

Did you see Cos' post about why? It's a bitter shame for their staff. Hundreds of empty shops are a shame for everyone, really.
