Re: Time For A Change
Not so much a change, but I’ve got a one-year fixed contract back where I was working last year, starting in 3 weeks. The money is nowhere near as good as I was on before as a day rate contractor, but no one is offering day rate contracts due to the IR35 reforms in the private sector which were due to come in this year but which were postponed to next year due to the coronavirus crisis.
I’ve agreed compressed full time hours Tues to Fri, and I’m going to max out my pension contributions to get the best level of employer contributions too, to try and leverage up the package and make the best use of holiday (since if my logic is correct they should give me additional holiday allowance for the Monday Bank Holidays which aren’t usually a working day for me).
Having been a bit ambivalent about it, since the money is a step down and the project by all accounts fairly high pressure, I’m coming round to looking forwards to it, as I’ve been a bit lethargic and bored for the past few weeks. I’ve got an office chair on order, though that won’t arrive until a couple of weeks after I start, and that and a monitor stand should hopefully be all I’d need to set up a reasonable home working environment.
