Re: Secondment
I was going to say make them send you on a leadership programme, but I didn’t want to make it sounds like I don’t think you’re a born leader, because I do.

Re: Secondment
My ideal role is second in command/éminence grise.

Re: Secondment
Me too! And congratulations!
T was thrown into managing 8 people (and hiring new ones) and it was a ridiculous baptism of fire that could have been fixed by management/leadership training. So get that and then rule with an iron fist

Congratulations, Ella! Definitely get whatever CV-enhancing training you can from it and then show them how it ought to be done

Re: Secondment
Well done Ella!
All the stuff you were concerned about are covered by local policies in my place, I hope HR are able to ease some of your concerns.
And yes to the leadership stuff. I ended up with a team to manage at the start of covid (not actually in my job description and underless than ideal circumstances) and I really could’ve done with more guidance and support (it wasn’t really forthcoming)

Re: Secondment
Thanks, all. I am a bit concerned about it all, but I already direct quite a lot of the work done by the people who would report to me, so there is that dynamic in place already.
My boss wants all this in place by the end of next week, so I hope HR doesn’t try anything weird.

Congratulations!
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just fuck off and leave me alone.
