I bought P a year's gym membership when he went to uni and had to give up his monthly direct debit. He said he didnt want to feel obliged to go all the time because it was a gift, I said of course he shouldn't. He went twice. Over £100 per visit. I was in an entry level job at the time
3. Dark, white or milk chocolate?
Milk. I'll be especially happy if it is orange chocolate but pleased with any. I don't have refined confectionary tastes.
4. Traditional tree with lots of tinsel or restrained elegant tree? Or in between? Or both?!
Traditional, more is more, no colour scheme, no tinsel. I like ornaments that have meaning, so gifts or souvenirs of places we've been.

Yes, as long as they're not made by me

Something to do, as long as it's not a list of chores
7. Do you prefer something to wear or something to eat?
Something to eat (which may be why the something to wear it tricky). I do love socks, scarves etc though.

I really want to, but no. I have the dexterity of a camel wearing oven gloves.

Hand creams, yes. Lip balms less so, and Berty will steal them anyway.

I strongly dislike bath bombs but love a bubble bath.

Body lotion.

Perfume.

I will graciously accept anything I am sent but I'm not drinking alcohol at the moment so it would be wasted on me.

I am very easy to please so I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad present. My cheating ex used to buy me jewellery which was more expensive the more guilt he felt, which was like winning employee of the month at a job you despise.

Thoughtless Bayliss & Harding gift sets to people I don’t care about but feel obligated to buy for.

I have a white artificial tree and every year I decorate it very tastefully, in just one or two colours and take a picture. Then I go mad with tinsel and lights and tacky ornaments, so that it looks like Santa and all his elves have vomited Christmas over it, because that’s how I like it. I have a couple of treasured ornaments including two previous SS gifts and they always take pride of place.

I agree with rosy that this is so much more than a gift and I will love whatever I receive. TMT ss is such a brilliant Christmas tradition and just being part of it is brilliant.

1. What is the worst present you have ever had?
I once had a great aunt who, when I was a child, used to bestow the most hideous cat ornaments upon me. She was adamant that I had to collect something, some of them were truly awful even at the age of ten.
2. What is the worst present you have ever given?
I thought it was a great gift, but I got MIL a Jo Malone like, basil & mandarin perfume & candle set as a wedding thank you present. I found the candle (expensive three wick!) stashed unused in the back of a cupboard four years later.
3. Dark, white or milk chocolate?
Milk or white.
4. Traditional tree with lots of tinsel or restrained elegant tree? Or in between? Or both?
Both! We have the tasteful matching silver decorations MrD used before I can along and added my Paperchase atrocities and the kids’ works of arts have improved things further.
5. Do you like homemade gifts?
Yes!
6. Would you like something to do or something to look at?
Something to do, probably.
7. Do you prefer something to wear or something to eat?
Something to eat, all day long.
8. Do you like doing crafts, if so what sort?
Not at all crafty but I wish I was. I like colouring in but have a zillion books already.
9. Do you like tiny hand creams and lip balms?
I don’t use hand cream and I have a lot of lip balms on the go.
10. Do you like bath bombs or do they make you itchy?
Lush is amazing, say no more.
11. What would you hate to get?
Novelty items.

Yes, but I rarely wear earrings.

I chew my fingers nails right down
so don’t have much use for nail polish. I wear jewellery even less now than before Covid but perfume would be a winner.

Yes, an espresso martini or a Baileys would be great!

I cannot get on board with fruity or floral teas, as much as I want to. I only really drink coffee shop or coffee machine coffee. So maybe not.

My auntie once bought me a pastel pink sweatshirt. I am very definitely not a pastel pink kind of person. AND MrA likes to give me gifts like a pan scrubber or a pair of rubber gloves (not as my main present, thankfully) which I do not find even remotely funny. It seems to have stopped after I threw them back at him a couple of years ago, though.

Most things from ExMrB's parents. They didn't get me, really. Recently R bought me a jetboil. I concur it's a genius piece of kit but I think it should've been a joint camping purchase, not a present.

Milk or white. Dark if it's ordinary, none of this posh 90% cocoa with stuff in it rubbish. I have pedestrian tastes. I like Maltesers and Crunchies mostly.

We don't usually have one, as we're away. This year I may get the comedy wooden hippy one out. So think ethical, nature-y, made of acorns or something. I don't have 'to keep' decorations.

Yes but I have surgical steel ball closures that never come out.

I don't do my nails. I quite like a thong tree of life on wood type bit of jewelry or beady bracelets.

Seriously though, I have loved all my SS gifts and they're always such a joy. And though the questions never seem like it, I am easy to please. I like feeding and watching birds, nature walks, reading, smelly candles, ordinary chocolate, hoofing about up the moors in woolly hats, nice stationery.
