You definitely should, Skips!

No, I decided against it. My back is really not good at the moment and the job is to start immediately, full time, high pressure. Something else will come up. I was a bit down about it yesterday but it's the right choice for now. Thanks for your help with the cover letter. I will save it for next time.

Definitely apply Skips!

This isn’t really a new job but a new client. I did a test piece for them back in the summer, they’ve finally finished sorting me out a supplier and have asked if I’d be available to do the equivalent of a week a month from January. We need to sort out the details but as a freelancer I’m really pleased to have that sort of confirmed work a month (the pay is decent too).

I’m an editor/proofreader/tutor. This is the second big new client I’ve picked up this year and for the first time in a long time I’ve got worked booked in a month or so in advance (very unusual!) Aren’t you a freelancer too Lazz (or have I made that up)?

Ah, excellent! I know what you mean about booking work up that far in advance - I’m a freelance translator and an occasional copywriter. It’s always worth a celebration when you confirm a new client, in my world. :toot:

Thats brilliant Dem! Great to have the security of a regular gig.

I'm all for celebrating the freelancing as much as anything else!

Well done Demelza!

I have applied. I have a zoom call with the hiring manager at 9:30 (not about this) and I'm hoping she doesn't mention it as I feel really nervous about it all.

Woohoo!

pd, I'm sorry you didn't apply for yours (but your reasons are your reasons). I thought it looked like a good fit on paper.

I had to get the form signed by my line manager, which should technically be Hug-Man, but I went over his head and it's been signed by his manager (who is also the person doing the hiring so I'm taking that as a positive).

I have an interview tomorrow (zoom). My actual line manager will also be on the call but as he's the temporary depot manager it's to be expected. I feel a lot more nervous than I ordinarily would.

I think it went well, but I can never tell with these things, they will be drawing up a shortlist and I should hear by the end of the week if I'm to have a second interview. They would like to have an offer accepted by the end of the year so at least it shouldn't be too drawn out.
