Re: Book Notes
I read A Man Called One a few weeks ago and last night we watched the film on Prime - no subtitles but I already knew the story and had to shut up OH several times when he was verbally translating for me as I was in tears almost throughout.
I am now reading How To Kill Your Family and on the last chapter. I have enjoyed it very much but some of the explanations were a bit drawn out?

Re: Book Notes
I’m still not sure how I felt about How To Kill Your Family.
I finished Marking Time and I think I’m going to give myself a break from the Cazalets. I hadn’t realised how autobiographical it was until I read something by Hilary Mantell about the author.
I’ve started on my TMT SS book from Edith now; Death in Delft.

I’m 3/4 of the way through now, and it’s been so moving. What a life she’s had.

Ha, yeah, Rachel had a bit of a life too. But Tara, wow.

I loved Educated, thought it was an incredible read.
I've just finished The Wolf Den by Elodie Harper which was great - set in a Pompeii brothel, chronicling the women's lives. The second volume of the trilogy comes out in May, so I've got that to look forward to.

I finished it tonight, it was excellent but so sad, the way he was treated in care was appalling but probably not unusual, unfortunately.Marth wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 10:44 amOh lovely. How is it? I've been reading one of his earlier volumes of poetry after hearing him on Desert Island Discs I think it was.sally maclennane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 10:13 am I finished Rachel's Holiday too, and I enjoyed it.
Now reading Lemn Sissay's autobiography, I've been meaning to read it for a while as I've listened to a few of his Ted talks and read some articles by him.

Re: Book Notes
R's back might be in one of the Tebay episodes this year. That's all I've got.
I have been wellying through Garry Disher's Hirsch series. They're not quite Jane Harper but they're rural Aus crime and a decent calibre (would put with Val McDermid, Mark Billington, below Anne Cleeves, above Peter Robinson).

Re: Book Notes
I polished off George V last night. I guess I shouldn't be surprised it took such an age and I loved every page apart from the political ones as I never understand anything about politics. I'm now on Slow Fire Burning by Paula Hawkins.

I've been in nineties nostalgia mode, having just finished Rachel's Holiday and a Jorge Cruise weight loss book.

I read Sorrow and Bliss but wasn't mad about it. I really disliked Martha, she was so pretentious!
