My cousin's husband was hospitalised with Covid in the first week of December and spent a month in the ICU in a chemically induced coma on a ventilator. This week he has been moved to a rehab centre where he will spending the next weeks/months as he has so much muscle wastage. When he was first coming off the ventilator, he even had to train his breathing muscles for 15 minutes at a time and then go back on the vent. He was double vaxxed and boosted but has leukemia. Understandably, his wife and kids go mad when they hear the "just a flu" argument being trotted out.

I am very sorry to hear about your experience Vag - very frightening. Me and OH had it Dec/Jan last year (started Boxing Day)before vaccination. We were quite ill but not hospitalised. It took some months before I felt able to do the small exercise routine that I have been doing for years to keep my (older) body mobile and a bit stretchy. I go to the office one day a week now and have been to restaurants and theatres (masked and sometimes LFT depending on the situation). OH is vulnerable anyway and although recovered is neurotic about numbers and cases and has not been out except for hospital visits (to be fair he had a knee operation early December so not too mobile right now). He is OK with me going out and about as I am being as careful as I can but just cannot stay confined any longer

That sounds awful Vag. Glad you are on the mend now, and hope others who have it/are recovering from it are ok too.

I’m convinced it went round our office early in February 2020. Where we work is quite rural but a number of staff went to a massive indoor conference in London in early 2020, and after that we had loads of people getting ill with a bug that they just couldn’t shake off, and one or two got quite ill.

Mr P and I have never had it as far as we know, but we live quite rurally too which helps, and I’m well aware we could have had it and been asymptomatic.

Our main office has been open throughout as we had staff who needed to work in the office to stamp documents so that goods can continue to be exported, although most staff worked from home. I’m pleased that all this has meant I’ve been able to set up a new policy of flexible working so staff now have the choice to work in the office or from home depending on what kind of day they have, and our office is nicely spaced out so it’s relatively safe when you’re there.

I’m in the office at least once or twice a week now. I hated working from home before all this started, but now I love the peace and quiet to get on with my work at home without all the office chatter and interruptions, so I work from home whenever I can.

Broken, I came here for a moan but feel a bit mean now, given what some of us and our families are going through…

My moan is that J tested positive on Monday last week. He tested today and he’s still a strong positive - which is bonkers! He had a bit of a sore throat on Monday which for better v quickly, and he’s feeling absolutely fine. He spent last week gardening as he couldn’t go anywhere, but he’s desperate to get back to work. Is it possible that the test is wrong?!

Oh bloody hell. I am obsessively swabbing us all at more-than-required intervals because we just generally feel like shit. I can't believe we won't get it again in this wave.

He had a runny nose and I thought I’d test him before school but then I realised that if I did it today we could start counting!

J can go back to work after 10 days though, is that right? Obviously if he’s feeling ill he might not want to though.

Sorry about D, cerise.

E tested positive this evening. He was feeling rubbish. This is the second time as he had it in October. The rest of us negative so far.

D just seems to be full of cold so far. He’s worried about ruining another holiday (he and I were positive in Oct and so our last holiday was cancelled). We’re due to go away in half term. Plenty of time for him to get better but not so much if the rest of us get it.

*sigh*

My flatmate has just returned from London and has brought Covid with her 😭. She tested negative this morning, then started to feel ropey halfway through the flight. She did an LFT as soon as she walked in the door and was masked, and it came up positive in seconds.

Not sure what we are going to do. Right now my exposure has been minimal as she didn’t come into the kitchen where I was when she arrived and I put a mask on as soon as she got her positive result. I don’t know if she can stay confined to her room, and actually she can’t as her bathroom is down the hall. We could swap rooms for the duration as mine is en suite although that’s a faff. And she’s now eating in her room anyway. Gah!

It’s coming for me. Nearly two years I’ve avoided it!!

So many positives! I hope everyone has mild symptoms only, and that those of you still negative stay that way.

I’m not sure there is much else you can do in that situation, Epp!

Man down here. Theo again, almost exactly 3 months since his last go around. But I’m feeling pretty ropey as well so even though my lft is still saying negative then I assume I have it. Both mine and Theo’s tests were clear negatives last night whereas he had such a strong positive this morning!

Oh no Luce, I hope you are both OK!

Epp, I don't think there is much else that you and your flatmate can do. At least you have a bathroom each!

Vag, that sounds properly awful.

Fingers crossed I have not had it yet, though I think it’s just a matter of time.
