Oh that's awful, Edith. I'm so sorry.
Fingers crossed, Zoomer.

So, so sorry about your friend's dad, Edith. That is awful, so sad for your friend and her family.
This. We had another press conference last night and pretty much all our restrictions are being lifted in quick succession. With immediate effect, the WFH advice is reduced to 50% and the number of guests to the home is unlimited. As of Friday, hospitality can stay open till 1 am, masks no longer compulsory in public and isolation after a positive test reduced to 5 days. From the 25th, social distancing ends and hospitality can determine their own opening hours. It feels rather rushed to me and makes me feel really unsettled. I'm almost expecting all the restrictions to be re-introduced before long.Edith Bacon wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 9:05 pm It seems so surreal when people are talking about it all being over and there being no need to isolate or even test any more. My poor friend… how do you get your head around such conflicting circumstances?

I'm so sorry, Edith.
My sister and her housemate both tested positive via LFT's last week and my sister was taken to hospital by ambulance earlier this morning as her face has swollen up like a balloon. She was complaining of sore, swollen glands over the weekend and has all the symptoms of tonsillits but she looked horrific on video last night and her face is getting worse by the hour. An ambulance came out at 2am yesterday (Tuesday), checked her over and said she was fine, and now this! I feel like I should go and sit with her but she won't have it and I don't know what the hospital rules around that are anyway.

That is so strange Sky! Hopefully you'll hear from her soon and it won't be too serious.

Thanks Dutchie. It is really strange and I think she might have two different things making her ill at the same time, but who knows anymore? Symptoms seem to vary so wildly between people.

How worrying, Sky! I hope they get to the bottom of it soon and your sister starts to improve.

I'm so sorry about your friend's dad Edith, that's awful.
I hope your sister has a speedy recovery, Sky. My colleague's four year old niece is currently in hospital with covid and her face has swollen up! Her eyes are completely closed due to the swelling.
My friend tested postive last Thursday. She'd had a sore throat for several days, carried about her business taking LFT tests (didn't bother with PCR), once she got the positive LFT result she declared as restrictions are being lifted in two weeks she wouldn't bother with a PCR/ reporting it. I know for a fact she went away for the weekend on a train to visit her new boyfriend's parents. She went to the gym on Monday and yesterday and she laughed at a mutual friend (who works for her) when she arrived at the doorstep wearing a mask to pick up her laptop so she can work from home. I'm finding it very hard to even speak to her at the moment.

Jesus, Dic. That’s mental, no wonder you feel like that.
I hope your sister is ok, Sky.
Sorry about your friend’s dad, Edith.
It really does feel like everyone is just done with it now. I’ve got sympathy for that, it’s been so draining. But now isn’t the time to shrug and give up.

I really feel so pissed off with her. Her own bloody mum died from covid for god's sake and here she is being so fucking cavalier. She's doesn't give a shit as long as she can carry on doing what she wants to do.

I don’t understand how she can square it in her mind after being personally affected like that.

There will be loads of people doing the same as Disco’s friend.
Restrictions ending and everyone carrying on like it’s 2019 and covid never happened is boggling my mind a bit.

If you’re not going to act on the results, why use the LFTs at all?

Sky, I hope your sister is ok. I wonder if she has mumps? My face blew up very quickly over the course of a day and it started off with sore throat.

Disco, that is so frustrating and it makes me feel so resentful about our various isolations. No one fucking likes it, it isn't like it will be worse for her than anyone else. Everyone has had plans cancelled last minute, devastating things etc. Why does she think she is special or different? Rhetorical question, obviously but it is particularly frustrating when I think of the absolute stress of continually monitoring if you're doing the right thing.

Well she decided to do one before going away for the weekend but went away anyway!
Like Emma says so many people will be justifying doing what they want because it has been suggested restrictions will lift soon.

I know Luce. I really am furious with her. I don't know when I'll be able to talk to her because I think she's behaving like a selfish arsehole.

Re: Testing times - Covid in 2022
I think the UK has been pretty unusual in offering free LFTs any way, I've never had access to them in France (I presume school children get given them)
