Re: Film 2022
I’d volunteer for that.
We watched Turning Red, which I think I enjoyed even more than the girls (and they did!)
We also went to the town hall cinema for Death on the Nile. KB is no David Suchet (and Elvis nearly refused to go when she realised this) but there were enough little nods to Poirot’s quirks that Sproglette and I shared knowing looks. The scenery was AMAZING.

I’m hoping to see DOTN over the weekend. Tomorrow afternoon if I can find a convenient matinée timing.

Re: Film 2022
Maybe.
We went to a mid afternoon showing so there were, like, ten people in the cinema. At the end, after the credits, we were standing up to go and Mr R couldn't stop himself saying to the two young blokes in the row behind us "well I thought that was a great film!". Thing is, it was still fairly dark, so they just shrunk into their seats clearly thinking "fucking weird American" and not getting it at all.

Did the Armie Hammer stuff affect how you felt about It Wendy? I know who he plays so it might not. I love the Suchet version so much I think I'm far too biased. I also like the Ustinov one a lot too.

Bless him. Go again to a busier showing! I hope he has only good things to say about SF if they crossed paths.

Do you mean SH? Otherwise I'm flummoxed.wendy james wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:34 pm Bless him. Go again to a busier showing! I hope he has only good things to say about SF if they crossed paths.
His scenes didn't involve her, sadly, if that's who you mean. He said MR was lovely if very focused. I'm not his biggest fan but he was very good in this.

Re: Film 2022
His name rang a vague bell when you mentioned it but I had to Google to see why, and I hadn’t even registered him as a cast member (and I’d never heard of him until he was mentioned here).Rebel Pebble wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:33 pm Did the Armie Hammer stuff affect how you felt about It Wendy? The Ustinov one is the version I’ve watched a million times. So despite thinking Suchet is the best Poirot, I think I’ve only seen that version once!
We’re Horrible Histories/Yonderland/Ghosts fans here.

We watched Fast 9 last weekend, and it was preposterously ridiculous but really enjoyable.

Aha! Got it. Yes he met him (remotely, this was autumn 2020) at audition stage and had only good things to say. Very encouraging and nice.wendy james wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:42 pmWe’re Horrible Histories/Yonderland/Ghosts fans here.Rebel Pebble wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:33 pm Did the Armie Hammer stuff affect how you felt about It Wendy? I didn’t realise he also wrote Paddington 2 until this week. I always found him annoying on HH but he’s incredibly talented.
MR was on Front Row last night and does sound really intense.

Re: Film 2022
Having just heard a Simon Mayo interview with SF about the movie, I was coming on specifically to ask you what SF is like. Paddington 2 is one of the best films ever so I’m glad to hear that he’s a good chap. The film sounded right up my street so I’ll keep an eye out for it, on the off chance that it’s shown here.Rebel Pebble wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:33 pm

In The Eyes of Tammy Faye - Jessica Chastain is very good, but the prosthetics put me off and Andrew Garfield absolutely did not look like an aging man by the end.

I really enjoyed it. I’ll watch anything she’s in . (Scenes From A Marriage is quite brutal though.)
