Bertie's been with me a week now and as Florin says he's part of my family. He's just a joy. He went out with the dogwalker yesterday as I was at the theatre, and got on splendidly with his new friends.

The best feeling is when he wakes up and sees me and wags his tail, coming towards me for a cuddle. I wuv im.
This is lovely to read. What a great find for both of you.

The Mum is due in season this month, so we’re hoping for July/Aug puppy collection! We’re getting a staffy as SB has always wanted one. Last year was tough as we lost the big hound and the grey cat (Big hound was expected due to his age, but the cat was hit by a car) so we’re looking forward to adding another dog back into the mix. I miss having a proper dog. The current small hound is more of a cat than a dog!

Happy upcoming puppy day! Staffies are delicious.

We had a vet check-up today and she said how much better he looked; he's already like a different dog. He was good as gold but he was sick on our journey into work and then lay in it :ella: so I have a bit of cleaning to do. I had to go away with work yesterday so he spent the day and night with his grandparents who absolutely adore him. My dad took this photo. The vet said he has very limited hearing so I will get a beeping/vibrating collar to hopefully help train him although I doubt I'll ever let him off the lead as he can't hear danger approaching.

My one problem now is that the name Bertie really isn't working for me. I don't know why but I've been struggling with it all week! I've asked his Romanian rescuer if she can recommend any Romanian names.

Not that I'm procrastinating but I did some googling and Bertie means intelligent and bright. Bright in Romanian (although presumably more the light-related bright) is luminos which I thought you might be able to do something with. You've certainly brought some light and brightness to each others lives!

Barry! I don't want a name that lots of other people have, which is part of the problem with Bertie. I'd go for Rusty if I can find it in another language as he is so ginger.

Good idea, thank you Froozy! I could have Lumino? I also like Domino, thinking about it. I also like Mango and Titus (but my grandparents' cat was called that, so I feel it's more a cat name), Wigeon (shortened to Widgie is so cute), and Pontiki which is Greek for mouse (I call him my little mouse). I'm also thinking of Pickwick, shortened to Picky.

I'm going away from human names, for some reason.

Rubio is blonde in Spanish but in English sounds like it should mean red/strawberry blonde (if that makes any sense! :) ) - just thinking if Lumino/Domino type names are appealing to you...

I saw that one! It reminds me of the scary bloke in Ghostbusters though.

"Little one" in Romanian is Micuțul which is cute. Rubio is sweet, and I really like that. I don't know who Dan Petrescu is/was. :look:

I'm so glad he's got a clean bill of health from the vet. It's a shame he's almost deaf but I bet there's loads of videos on YouTube about training a hard of hearing pooch.

As for Romanian names there's the top 100 here - https://kidadl.com/articles/romanian-bo ... -your-baby

Radu means 'being happy' which is something I think is really is.
