I have read Mailbu Rising in two days - would have been one if I didn't have to work. Loved it.

I did exactly that, Est, and am now on The Seven Husband's of Evelyn Hugo. Can't get enough!

It took me ages to get into Daisy Jones & The Six. The beginning bit really bored me.

I’m enjoying the style so far. It feels punchy and I can picture everyone talking in the style of a documentary.

I liked DJ&TS but Evelyn Hugo was my favourite. I liked Malibu Rising but I found it a bit boring as it went on. I read one of her earlier books too, and I thought it was very average.

I have the Brookmyre book on my desk right now I'm itching to read it but I'll probably wait for a bit. I've got the latest Strike on pre-order.

I had a post on what I've currently read but I've obviously overwritten it with the line above so you'll all have to imagine what it said. :mog:

Finished Evelyn Hugo. I've really liked all three but they feel like literary fast food, I don't know how to describe it.

Now I'm reading Counterfeit, recommended by Reese Witherspoon, no less.

I read Malibu Rising on vacation, and found it OK but I'm not convinced enough to try any of her other books. I noticed a Carrie Soto book has been released, but meh. :))

I'm now reading The Woman In The Library by Sulari Gentill, which is really sucking me in.

I read Black Boy by Richard Wright, which was horribly upsetting, about his childhood. I am now on Net for Small Fishes by Lucy Jago but I'm not sure about it.

I read this recently and thought it was excellent! However on the back of it I tried reading one of her historical murder mysteries and didn't get into it at all.

I loved Malibu Rising but haven't read any others of hers.

I thought Malibu Rising was good but not amazing and I absolutely loved Evelyn Hugo. Daisy Jones is on my "want to read" list. Currently still reading Yours Cheerfully, which is brilliant.

The Midwich Cuckoos - I preferred the book to the tv show
Troubled Blood - absolutely loved this, couldn't put it down
Chocky - John Wyndham - fantastic story reminded me of Ray Bradbury's Zero Hour
Don't Make a Sound - David Jackson - audible freebie and it was a non-taxing page-turner
Strange Loyalties - William McIlvanney - love his writing

Currently reading:
A Tale of Two Cities - still reading this it's a massive slog. I should give it up but I'm 3/4 of the way through
Early riser - Jasper Fforde - it's started well
The Right Sort of Girl - Anita Rani
Meantime - Frankie Boyle

Gave up:
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - couldn't finish this, I got a chapter in and returned it

Turns out I edited an old post

Recent reads: The Companion, Lesley Thomson ; The Perfect Life, Valerie Keogh. Both a bit meh and saw the "killer" about halfway through.

Oh that's disappointing, I was hoping I'd enjoy her others.

I finished Ginger and Me, and I enjoyed it. I'm now reading The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell which is really good but I kind of wish I'd reread The Family Upstairs first as I can't remember some of the storyline, and TFR is a sequel to it.

So far this holiday, I have read Are We Having Fun Yet? by Lucy Mangan and The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley.

Hmm, maybe I should branch out from Lucys. Lucies?

I've read The Gustav Sonata by Rose Tremain which I mostly really enjoyed, and The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn which was good, but definitely dropped off in the last third for me and was a bit too long.

We've also listened to Prince Caspian and Howl's Moving Castle in the car.
