Ovo appear to be doing the same, as far as I can work out. Although it seems a bit complicated as we pay our usual monthly DD, then once that is cleared they'll refund the £66 or £67 into the same account.wendy james wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 7:14 pm EDF are giving me a sixth of the payment back into the account from which I pay my DD every month.

Octopus emailed me to say they’d be reducing my dd by £67 this month but gave me the option of continuing to pay my normal dd amount plus the £67 so I’ve gone for that one.
At the moment we can cover the increases and it might give me a bit of credit so I can reduce my dd later on if needed.

Bulb let me change my payment for gas and electric from £43 to £3 this morning!
I also got a £66 payment added to my account, so am around £170 in credit…

I haven't had an email so logged into my account to see they had reduced my DD by £67. I've put it back to what is was.Kleio wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 8:44 pm Octopus emailed me to say they’d be reducing my dd by £67 this month but gave me the option of continuing to pay my normal dd amount plus the £67 so I’ve gone for that one.

I'd rather have that £67 buffer so I can turn the heating on occasionally!

I've had the same and have decided to pay less each month because I couldn't have afforded the new monthly amount they suggested before the rebate thing is taken into account.

I'm doing the same Shoe but only because I don't want those hideous fuckers to have a single penny more of my money for a single second longer than they need to.

Octopus have been really good. I challenged my DD rise and they let me keep it as it was. I pay the difference as a one off payment each month. It makes me feel I'm in control a bit more.
Luckily the last two payments have been small amounts.

So Energy seems to be having a problem with their website at the moment but I’m hoping when I can log in I can reduce my DD to account for the £67 credit.

That idiot Truss has fucked this up so badly that British Gas have had to take out an advert explaining that in fact they will rob people even more if they can get away with it.

I’ve seen on Twitter today people thinking that bills are capped at £2500 even while replying to Martin Lewis’s explanation that it’s only the unit price that’s capped.
Even a Tory MP nearby to me got it wrong:

My friend - on a pre-pay meter - just put her heating on for 1 hour and that cost £6!

Bloody hell. That’s unsustainable even with the £67 a month help. People will die this winter for lack of heating.

I can believe it.
I'm not on a prepay but my shit electric central heating system cost me three or four quid (I can't remember which) an hour last year and that was on a fixed deal.

God knows what is happening with Ovo. I got my £66 into my account today. Simultaneously they have just put my DD up by £43 a month? WTF? I have a smart meter and am on a fix so it's not like they don't know my usage/ costs.

I’m with Ovo and I’ve had nothing yet, presume it’ll be the next bill?

Disco, your poor friend. Is there any way she can get swapped onto a meter?
I've had to call my old neighbour's landlord as his archaic system means that his bills have now gone up to £200 a month. He asked for them to review his heating & hot water system back in May, FFS. I threatened them with the council and apparently now someone is coming out next week.
