Re: Book Notes
I read another Kate Brannigan novel, one of Val McDermids series. It was pretty dull, about a private investigator who was looking into financial crimes. I don't think I'll bother reading any more which is a pity as I really like some VMcD stuff so I was hoping for another series to plough through.

I took it back to the library without bothering any further with it.

Re: Book Notes
This week I’ve read The Keeper of Stories (which I loved) and The Yellow Wallpaper, which was more of a short story really. I started The Mad Women’s Ball last night, on my colleague’s recommendation.

I’m reading Meredith Alone, which is good so far. It’s a bit like Eleanor Oliphant.

I've just finished The Marriage Portrait - I enjoyed it and didn't find her writing style too overblown (I enjoyed it more than Hamnet) but I definitely had issues with the ending and think some of the plot was both clumsy and cliched at the same time.

I'm in a real book fun. I tried Fairy Tale by Stephen King but I just can't get into it. I ditched Emma Donoghue's Haven for the same reason.

I tried My Brilliant Friend for book club but really didn’t get on with it. Others told me the second half is better, so I may persist as I have a couple of long train journeys coming up.

I finished a Man Called Ove in floods of tears. I loved it so much! I don't want to see the film as Ove is definitely not Tom Hanks in my mind.
Have now started Daisy Jones and the Six and loving it already!

I hated it too, I found the main character a real pain.

I re-read a couple of Rebus books but didn't fancy any more so I bought The Promise by Damon Galgut, it won the Booker Prize last year.

There is a Swedish Film version - about 2015. You might be able to find and stream it somewhere - Amazon Prime?
