I did get it back! Totally didn’t expect to but it seems like someone picked it up by accident and returned it the following evening (to lost property)

It’s really not a great jacket but it’s my going to the beach one as it’s light and has deep pockets. I was really gutted when I thought it had gone.

IWLTS Welcome to parenthood! but I can’t because a. It would create a diplomatic incident with the neighbours and b. I’m genuinely not sure if I’m being mean and projecting my own reluctance to ask for help.

IWLTS OMFG, just go into work and get them to sort it out. I cannot help with resetting your employer's MFA. Just fucking ring somebody or get a colleague to raise a ticket LIKE THE WEBSITE SAYS. :banghead:

IWLTS: stop assuming people can read your mind.

My mum has just got back from Ireland where she spent two weeks. She stayed with her cousin who can be quite hard work. I was surprised when she said she'd be staying there for 2 weeks. She said today that it had been hard going and I said that I thought 2 weeks with anyone is quite a long time (let alone S!).

She said "oh I only planned to spend a week with her, then I was going to go through to X Town (my grandparents home town) and stay in a hotel there" She has lots of cousins there but somehow she never ended up going there because she said she felt S wanted her to stay. But she also felt like she was outstaying her welcome :banghead:

I don't understand why she didn't tell S that she would stay a week then go elsewhere for the second week. But my mum is awful for not being explicit about plans. She thinks I'm too blunt but honestly, this constant prevarication and faffing about is just pointless.

This exact thing happened with my mum and stepdad went away with my and brother when niece was about 2. The whole idea was a family holiday to help brother & SIL out, so I was really surprised when he told me that mum and stepdad never offered to stay with niece, always wanted to do things as a family or went off and did things themselves. That was fine of course, but he did think they wanted to help out more and would’ve loved to have some time just him and SIL for an evening or afternoon.

Then I spoke to mum. All the same complaints, except the exact opposite. “We were desperate to spend time just with niece and let R&J go off and have some fun, but they just wanted to spend all the time together! We never got any solo time with niece at all! That was fine but we would’ve loved to help out more.”

They were away for 2 weeks! TALK TO EACH OTHER :drill:

I want to hear more about that Luna.

Also, IWLTS: Wow, your parenting lows always find new lows to hit don’t they!

Bb went to the beach today with kids and friends. The children (incl. two 5 year olds) were hungry so BB and two adult men left to get chips. En route they went to the pub. It took 90 minutes for the mums to track them down and make them go and actually get the children’s lunch. Fancy buggering off for a pint (or 3) instead of feeding your children!

That’s really horrible Kleio.

IWLTS: I’ve decided that rather than being annoyed with you two being so monumentally rubbish, I’ll be grateful that you’re making me look great in comparison :bird:.

My two colleagues.

Colleague 1: really lovely and very kindhearted but totally unreliable and her excuses for not turning up should be made into a book.

Colleague 2: has been there at least 9 months now, job sharing with me, and yet seems to still not have the tiniest clue what she’s doing. It’s the most basic aspects of the job.

Things like, we get sent stuff in the post and the physical paperwork gets numbered and filed in order, into a clearly labelled file. Except if you’re her, in which case it gets shoved in last year’s file in no particular order with no reference number. Good luck ever finding those again. Or sending an international customer a UK invoice (I’ve told her this at least twice) so they are charged VAT and the shipping is all wrong. Get a fucking grip!

I’ve given up pointing out stuff she does wrong or fixing it and I just ignore it all now. It’ll come out in the wash.

I have just gone back to work after 9 days leave, to find several emails from my manager asking why I have not done xyzzy or responded to abc - all of which arrived to a shared inbox when I was on leave.

IWLTS I’m so glad you like your new flamethrower, but really, did you have to test drive it indoors and burn the curtains? 😡
