Re: IWLTS it is 2023
Smunder, that is proper taking the piss.
IWLTS: I am desperate to know the circumstances, but am not asking. I'm just going to assume that you're staying true to form and one of you is screwing your way around the office. Maybe you both are. Who knows! IAWLTS: Told you so. And also: Ha ha.
Bambs' dad is getting a divorce. This is the woman he cheated on me with. They've been married less than a year. I can't help feeling smug after the GF/wife sneeringly told Bambs not to get too attached to J as she gave my marriage a year at best.

Oh she is a piece of work. There was far worse than that. It all stems insecurity and jealousy. I suppose if your relationships are always built on a bedrock of infidelity, that's what happens. I had to block her number years ago
(I've known her for nearly 30 years and she had form long before she set her sights on Bambs dad. I'm not just being bitch here.)

You are totally entitled to be a bitch about this woman. I am cackling and rubbing my hands, and it's nothing to do with me!

Hopefully Bambs didn't get too attached to her.

Re: IWLTS it is 2023
I do feel a little sad for him. From the outside looking in, the whole marriage was a cynical ploy to secure half his money before the relationship tanked completely. It's been like watching someone hit the self destruct button in slo-mo.

It's nice of you to be sorry for him. I don't think I could be so generous.
IWLTS: Please keep your nose out?
To my friend, whose daughter is complaining about her husband not helping out enough with their baby. He has MH issues but is working and she is still on mat leave (the baby is 13 months). I understand the wish to protect and side with your daughter, but despite having heard only one side of the story, friend's husband is going to 'have a word' with the SIL, based on the fact that his daughter's distress is affecting them as her parents :woteva:. I know they want to help, but this seems to such a bad plan. I did say that I would have been furious if M's parents had told me off for vicariously upsetting them by not behaving as they thought I should towards their son, but she got defensive.

Oh my god, Morgs, that is such a bad idea! Does their daughter know that they're planning to do this?

Re: IWLTS it is 2023
I'm not sure. It's a dreadful idea, isn't it? I hope my friend reports my response back to her husband and he tones it down a bit/a lot/doesn't do it. They are sooo invested in their daughter's 'situation' that it's giving them sleepless nights, which I can't identify with at all. I love S to bits, but leave her to sort out her own relationships, and would never dream of telling off a partner for not behaving as I think he should. I also think that if the FIL lets it be known that the daughter has been slagging off the husband it could make things worse than they are. The SIL is having treatment for anxiety as it is.

Re: IWLTS it is 2023
Oh blimey, yes, that's a recipe for disaster!
IWLTS did it not occur to you that sealing the bath up when it was still soaking underneath was a VERY BAD IDEA?
I had a leak under my bath which the plumber fixed, but apart from putting down a few dishcloths he didn't deal with the aftermath of the leak and sealed the whole thing up again. A couple of months later my new plaster has gone all fuzzy. I've had to unseal the whole bloody thing, sit a dehumidifer there for several nights and hope the plaster now dries up. I'm not exactly Peter the Plumber (or whoever Bob the Builder's mate is) but even I would have figured out several fathoms of water wouldn't dry out by themselves.

IWLTS: fuck off with your patronising shit about "people should just cook from scratch". Do you had any concept about how some people in this country are living? If you're relying on food banks, baking your own sourdough probably isn't a priority even if some doctor has written a book about ultra processed food.

IWLTS - I am very sorry your husband passed away after a similar procedure in this hospital, but now really isn’t the time to mention it.

I really disagree with the whole ultra-processed food label. I think it's class-ist and it's only a short step to saying that women should be in the kitchen, peeling all the veg. Food is food. In the case of bread, for example, the ingredients added to bread that make it 'ultra processed' and things that stop it going bad.sally maclennane wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 10:21 pm IWLTS: fuck off with your patronising shit about "people should just cook from scratch". Absolutely! I have a real issue with it, all these "worried well" folk reading it, and tutting at people who can't/won't cook from scratch. And like you say, another thing for women to take on.

IWLTS: I'm sorry I can't foster you. I wish I could but I don't have the space/energy/money to do so.
