Polaroid was a great idea, and so much more fun! The QR code is a good plan, but be ready to step aside from any recriminations later when people inevitably still don’t bother. What you’ve put into it already sounds lovely.

At a recent work event a manager organised just that exact same thing. We were told to download the app, take photos then send them to the printer thingie. BUT the WiFi connection was shit and she spent a couple of hours talking people through the things they had to do.
I think there were 3 photos taken and printed at the event. The rest were posted on Teams after the event.

IWLOVETOSAY how utterly, utterly fucked off I am with J’s daughters and ex wife. Selfish bitches, all 3 of them. But I have to stay out of it, or make things worse.
It’s not just Js future they’re affecting, it’s mine too. And at some point I expect my red mist to come down hard.

IWLTS- I did see the bit off that thing and it is now in the bin as I had no idea what it was. Why didn’t you glue it back on when it fell off instead of procrastinating and waiting as per fucking usual?

IWLTS: I’m pretty proud of you doing that.
I’m really torn. As Kleio I’m proud of Cube for using his ingenuity and getting a small bit of revenge. As Kleio the mum I didn’t bring him up to steal.
His Dad has turned the boys room into a study and taken away their beds, broke up his Lego and got rid of his possessions.
Cube came home with the power cable from his work PC.

What is the relative value of the cable compared to the Lego? Probably not actually stealing if you look at it like that.

Oh wow. I didn’t think about it like that. He’ll like that one.
BB had swapped weekends to this one as he wanted to go camping on ‘their’ weekend. He never invited them. 2/3 said they’d have probably gone as they love camping so he’s massively missed out and hurt them again.

I think he was restrained in just a nicking a cable. Bearing in mind what a vile dad he is, a shit in his bin wouldn’t have gone amiss.

I like the cable taking his dad's power away. Cube is too dignified to shit in a bin, he need not lower himself to his father's level.
Kleio, have you asked Dickhead why he took the children's rooms away?
Margo, what did J do? Is J your partner?

Re: IWLTS it is 2023
Hi Five
Yes, J is my beloved…
His ex wife moved out some 14 years ago. His daughters are grown up with homes of their own. Yet his house still has their stuff stored. In the loft, one living room, the office, one bedroom, and loads of odd bit in the dog room (which is a lovely large utility room with loads of storage space). It’s such that it’s stopping me from selling up, moving in and us getting married because I am absolutely not selling my beautiful house and moving into a house with so much stuff in that I truly believe they don’t actually want or have any intentional of ever taking.
Js stance is that it’s not his so doesn’t want to just get rid of it. Mine is that they’ve had years to deal with it, and the fact that they haven’t says all he needs to know.
There’s been progress; I’m over there for 2 weeks in august when J is off, and I’ve almost talked him into getting a skip and being done with it. A lot can go to charity, a lot will probably just be binned. It’s driving me nuts but I can’t get involved other than to chip away at J and get him to see the ridiculousness of storing crap.

Has anyone actually asked them about the stuff and whether they want any of it any more?

I remember both our sets of parents bringing us stuff from their lofts over the years when they’ve been clearing out. My mum went on a mission shortly after retiring to completely empty their house of our things.

Yep. Repeatedly. We gave them and end of March deadline. It came and went. Then the end of June. Ex said she’d hire a van and a self storage place, and a date was agreed. She didn’t turn up. She ‘forgot’.
She took a car load last weekend from the attic but apparently K can’t come til at least September (wtf? She’s half an hour away and has a large car). I think if J says the skip is arriving on x date and if your stuff is still here it’s going in - that’ll do it. I’m sick of them all. They have no respect for J at all.

Yes my parents have done the same. They took a car load of Dr Who books, Thundercats toys and a life size cut out of a Dalek last time they visited my brother. His wife was delighted  S's dad brought over his 30 year old rock polishing kit and display cabinet. Which is now gathering dust in our basement.Pippedydeadeye wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 7:27 am I remember both our sets of parents bringing us stuff from their lofts over the years when they’ve been clearing out. This is probably part of the reason they're not bothering to clear the stuff out. I suspect it's largely laziness because who wants to deal with crap that you've not used for years. However, the fact that its causing you problems is probably an added bonus to them.Margo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 6:52 am It’s such that it’s stopping me from selling up, moving in and us getting married because I am absolutely not selling my beautiful house and moving into a house with so much stuff in that I truly believe they don’t actually want or have any intentional of ever taking.
As before, your partner is the issue here. He needs to man up and chuck all this stuff out. Otherwise why would they bother coming to get it? His deadlines have already expired with no consequence so he needs to show them he's serious.

That’s pretty much word for word what I’ve told him, Sally. They don’t care because there have been no consequences so far for them ignoring his requests.
He does need to man up; he’s getting there.

Re: IWLTS it is 2023
MrPG's parents have left their two sons' bedrooms like shrines, complete with teenaged posters, clothes, and school text books. Both sons are now in their 50s  Years ago they asked if the sons wanted to take anything. BIL said a clear no, but they've not got rid of anything in case he wants 80s jumpers or a maths textbook. MrPG has not been quite so categoric but still has taken absolutely nothing. They're attic rooms so not as useful as normal rooms would be, but on the extremely rare occasions they have guests to stay they must think they're mad
