Crafting Plans and Projects
What's on the horizon? Any new skills planned? Want to show off your latest make?
I wanted something small to work on in the passenger seat of the car and started a hat on a circular needle. I've now lost the pattern (it was torn from a magazine so just a sheet of paper) but thankfully it was a tea bag shaped hat so, after a bit of googling, I just need to knit it long enough then do a three needle cast off.
Sewing wise, I want to make myself a cord pinafore and a bodysuit to wear underneath. I've mastered my popper kit (after making 4 car tidy bags and 2 craft project bags) so think it can be done! I have all the gubbins and pieces ready to go, so it's just starting.
Wiggle, did you say you're starting a sewing course? Marth, are you still doing yours? Anybody else have plans?

You're such a hive of activity, wendy!
I'm planning on crocheting myself a jumper. My sister bought me the pattern last Christmas and I bought the wool in September. Now I just need to do it. I think it's the same one that Shoe made, yonks ago.

I got a resin kit for Christmas so will have a play with that at some point. I also have a couple of crochet projects to finish off (baby blanket and hot water bottle covers). I feel like I’ve lost my crafting mojo a bit. I want to do stuff and keep buying stuff but don’t do it! As well as the resin kit, I have a needle case kit, lino printing stuff (£50 worth, never touched), card making stuff, two Christmas decoration sets and probably more, forgotten about things. I also have a £30 Hobbycraft voucher!

I agree, i'm always amazed at what you can do and how you find the time.
Yes I start a 4 week course tonight and learning how to make tops with more stretchy material. I think after that I want to learn how to make a simple shift dress. Now my sewing machine is back I will be making some storage trays for bits and bobs around the house. Knitting wise I have two jumpers to complete and I need to learn how to block.

Re: Crafting Plans and Projects
I've continuing with a sewing class (same teacher but have had to change to a different time/place which is a shame as I'd become friendly with my class last term and would have preferred to carry on with them!) I've got the fabric to cut out a dress to make there; I also need to hem the sleeves of the top I made in class last term and finish sewing together a bag.
I'm knitting fingerless gloves and hoods for my daughter and for my son's girlfriend at the moment – the gloves knit up quickly but I need to work out a way to make the edge tighter as it's a bit gappy over the fingers. I also have the wool to make a jumper (for me!) at some point.

How did you get on Wiggle?
That sounds good Demelza, though a shame you've lost your classmates.
Does your voucher last a while Cerise, to maybe give you chance to try some of the kits? I have a selection of kits I bought when a monthly subscription was selling some leftover stock a couple of years ago. Lino printing, needle punching, block printing and maybe something else. I haven't tried a single one of them.

Re: Crafting Plans and Projects
I keep meaning to take some sort of sewing class. I have a machine, but don't have much idea of how to use it beyond the very basics,
I am currently using up an advent calendar of small skeins of yarn. I got it ages ago, and the colours are lovely, but I wasn't sure what to do with it. I bought some black yarn, and am making it into an oversized stripy jumper. I still need to do the sleeves and the neck (can't decide between a crew neck and a cowl) but finished weaving in 100 million ends last night

I’m not sure of the end date on the voucher but I’ve had it a while! I’m awful at forgetting about vouchers. Mum is part of a craft group that are going to do a poppy waterfall from the church so I might use some of it to donate them some red and black yarn.

Re: Crafting Plans and Projects
Thanks :))
I'm pleased with it, and will be able to relax when I'm sure that there will be enough to do matching sleeves.

I'm told that Hobbycraft stocks WI* yarn, which I'm told is great value and good. As you may have noticed I am passing on second hand information, but it may be a good use of your voucher if it's not earmarked for something and is at risk of expiry.

Yes, it’s a decent basic yarn and often 3 for 2. :))Morganna wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:33 pm Thanks :))

Morganna, I love the jumper!
Class was great, there were only 3 of us which meant we had some great 1 on 1 tuition.
We are making the Vee Tee from Sew Different and hopefully should be finished next week. After that in class it's s the Agnes top from Tilly and the Button. I also picked up the Stevie pattern and want to make the shift dress in my own time.

Re: Crafting Plans and Projects
I like that, Wendy. What can you recall of the pattern?
I have the usual stop-start crochet blanket project on the go - this time it’s the Attic24 Dahlia colourwash. I’m about halfway through.
I have an oil painting for beginners class next Saturday, and a repeat of the stained glass workshop I did a couple of years ago later on in the spring. I want to see if I can do something a bit more ambitious and also improve my soldering.
Nothing else in particular at the moment.

Re: Crafting Plans and Projects
N has asked for a sewn advent calendar with decent sized pockets, so I need to get on with that as I can see otherwise I'll be panicking in mid-November. I want to start knitting again and I found this pattern on Ravelry which looks fun.
It’s like a normal midlife crisis only with more chandeliers and foreign languages.
