For those who keep ketchup in the fridge, is it that a) you don’t mind very cold ketchup with hot food or b) the ketchup being cold is the actual point and you want cold ketchup with your food.

Because the bottle tells me too! All opened sauces are in the fridge. I think I’m more a “don’t mind” than “like”.

Ah ok, so a) then. I was never sure if it was a sensory thing and some people liked the mix of cold ketchup with hot food!
I’m def a cupboard person specifically because I dont want cold sauce but all my condiments are so sugar heavy that I’m quite sure they’ll last till the end of time.
Eggs are also always outside the fridge as well.

Eggs are not fridge dwellers, I agree and I meant to bring up eggs in my last post. I've never had an off egg and my eggs have never set foot in my fridge.

Wallys are har,dly long enough in the jar to need refirdgerating. In fact even when I have a fish and chip shop sized jar they still remain in the cupboard. Pickled onions are in the fridge and pickled cabbage is fridge from previous mould experience.

As a general rule things that were hermetically sealed in jars or bottles are kept in the fridge once opened, except for squash, honey and marmite. I hate chocolate spread but if I had it it wouldn't be in the fridge either. Oh yeah, obviously (?) oils & vinegars and soy sauce etc aren't in the fridge either.
I feel like there's a reason you shouldn't keep eggs in the fridge, and I don't. Americans have to though, because their eggs are washed or something.
I don't really mind either way with the temperature of ketchup, but would feel unsafe keeping it in the cupboard. I think perhaps more things have to be refrigerated now with some preservatifs being banned, lower sugar & salt etc.

It has never occured to me to keep any drinks except tonic water and milk in the fridge. Open jams etc are in the fridge.

Yes, I keep sauces in the fridge because it says to do that and I'm so used to it, after however many years, that ketchup being cold is normal now. It doesn't stay cold long once it's on the plate or all over chips, anyway.
I keep eggs in the fridge because I find it slows how fast they go stale (ie runny and full of air, not actually off). I like both boiled and poached eggs and the former are more pleasant and the latter easier to make with eggs that haven't got really runny whites or a big air pouch.

If you fry them, and the white is really thin and runs all over the pan instead of staying nice and contained and thick, it's the same thing. Maybe you just always have lovely fresh eggs.

Ah I see! No, that has happened in the past every now and then and I use egg rings these days which means that I probably don't notice when it happens.
I need to revisit poaching eggs, it is ridiculous that I can't manage this at my time in life.
